He who hesitates is lost–and sometimes that applies doubly to LEGO collectors. Many collectors (myself included) still weren’t totally sold on the Mixels concept when LEGO Mixels Series 1 was in stores, which has led to a lot of fans who got on-board later on lacking the tribes from LEGO Mixels Series 1. As a result, the LEGO Mixels Series 1 sets are selling for roughly triple their original cost on the aftermarket. For those who can’t afford those prices, though, fear not–LEGO is going to make sure that you too can have LEGO Mixels Infernites representation in your collection, as the Infernites return for the Winter 2015 LEGO Mixels Series 4!

Over the weekend I looked at the two new tribes coming to LEGO Mixels this winter: the Orbitronz and the Glowies. Both of those tribes are bursting with creativity, and are certainly some of the most unique concepts that LEGO has come up with yet for the LEGO Mixels theme. Of course, good things come in threes, so there’s another tribe accompanying the Glowies and Orbitrons in cases this winter–it’s just not a new one!

The much-loved red Infernites Mixels tribe will return for a second batch of figures in winter 2015. Because of the fact that the Mixels sets have a far shorter shelf-life than most LEGO sets (only a few months, as opposed to the two years most sets get), many Mixels fans are out in the cold (literally) without any fire-themed Infernites to warm them up. But this winter–no longer! Three all new Infernites are on the way in LEGO Series 4 Mixels!

As usual, we’ll begin with my favorite member of the group–in this case, Burnard (get it–“Burnard”?!). The 41532 Burnard LEGO Mixels figure is a real cutie with his great big eyes looking off to the left and the flame coming out of his mouth. I think this is one of the rare instances where the LEGO Burnard 41532 figure itself is cuter than the illustration of the character on the packaging!

LEGO Mixels Series 4 Flamzer 41532 (Red Infernites Tribe)

Next up, we’ve got LEGO Flamzer 41531! This is, unsurprisingly, my least favorite of the new Infernites for 2015. I think Flamzer is intended to be some sort of flaming crab monster, but instead he looks like a red, land-locked squid to me.

Unfortunately, Flamzer’s four legs are all on simple hinges, so he’s not going to have much poseability at all. Unless there’s a micro ball-joint in his tail, LEGO 41531 Flamzer will be one of the few disappointed LEGO Mixels figures to lack even a single ball-joint.

Finally, we’ve got LEGO Mixels Series 4 Meltus 41530. There’s a pretty wide disparity between the drawing of Meltus on his packaging and the actual brick-built Meltus, and he’s unfortunately nowhere near as cute as the image of him is. Based off the illustration, I’m guessing that Meltus is meant to be a flaming lizard of some sort (complete with flamethrower nose), but that’s not readily apparent from the actual toy.

On the bright side, Infernite Meltus has two ball-joints that his legs are on. But on the downside, he has one of the swivel-tails that I hate, as well as hinge-arms that don’t allow for many fun poses. I was hoping to like Meltus more than I do, but as it is, Burnard will be the only one of the LEGO Mixels Series 4 Infernites that I pick up.

The LEGO Mixels Series 4 Infernites sets are expected to be released in February 2015, but every single Mixels set thus far has turned up in stores early, and I expect Series 4 to be no exception. I’d bet on seeing these in stores by January 2015, and if we’re really lucky, a few may sneak out in time to be holiday gifts.
