LEGO Rocket Raccoon Minifigure Polybag 5002145 Revealed!

Way back in July, I was scandalized when LEGO decided to make the LEGO Rocket Raccoon Warbird set a San Diego Comic-Con 2014 exclusive. I was not thrilled about it–to say the least–but I ended up dropping $100+ for that SDCC 2014 LEGO Rocket Raccoon Warbird set so that I could continue to have a complete Rocket Raccoon shrine (I’m not kidding). Now I somewhat regret that decision, because I overpaid by at least $95 to get that LEGO Rocket Raccoon minifigure–because a Toys R Us exclusive Rocket Raccoon polybag with the same Rocket has now turned up online!

LEGO Rocket Raccoon Polybag 5002145 SetWell, you win some, you lose some. I definitely lost this one by feeding the scalpers $100+ (I don’t remember the exact amount and I can’t bring myself to look it up) for the “SDCC 2014” exclusive LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket’s Warbird set, but those who were patient and refused to pay aftermarket prices are getting a decisive win out of this latest development.

Literally out of nowhere, the Toys R Us Exclusive LEGO 5002145 Rocket Raccoon minifigure has been revealed! And not only is the previously San Diego Comic Con LEGO Rocket Raccoon figure being reissued–this time he comes with a sheet of stickers and a “Baby Groot” stick in a pot! Even though I already own this minifigure (from a much more expensive set), it turns out I’m gonna have to buy him again now to get his awesome new accessories!

LEGO Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket Raccoon Polybag Back

This particular LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket Raccoon minifigure depicts Rocket Raccoon in his red “Cherry Bomb” final battle costume. Unlike the SDCC set, this version of Rocket doesn’t come with the (totally inaccurate) LEGO Warbird vehicle, so it’s not a total loss for those who purchased that previous version (although the Toys R Us exclusive Rocket Raccoon is clearly the superior version).

The Rocket Raccoon LEGO 5002145 polybag set is expected to be a free promo at Toys R Us stores this fall, most likely during the November/December 2014 shopping season (as Toys R Us is already booked for the entire month of October 2014 with their Bricktober 2014 Exclusive promo sets).

5002145 LEGO Rocket Raccoon MinifigureI’ll post an update on the Bricks and Bloks Facebook Page once it’s revealed exactly when and how Toys R Us will release this 5002145 LEGO Rocket Raccoon minifigure, so be sure to ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have that news sent straight to your Facebook Newsfeed.

Are you excited for Toys R Us to have the previously San Diego Comic Con exclusive Rocket Raccoon minifigure as a retailer exclusive, LEGO fans? Or would you have preferred if Toys R Us had gotten a totally new exclusive figure instead of a re-release of a hard-to-find previously-released LEGO Rocket Raccoon minifigure?

  1. Thank you thak thank you for posting this! Otherwise i would have paid over 400 dollars for it, although i wish they could also give a collector minifig too, but thats unlikely

  2. I’m glad they’re doing this, but I’m not sure how I’m going to fit both outfits in my display cases, and include the Groot stick on top of that. I’m also wondering why they decided to make Groot’s pot gold instead of white, as it is in the movie (in the after credits scene, at least).

  3. The ship that was in the SDCC set was pretty sweet, but yeah, Rocket himself is the real prize. He will join the TMNT, Ninjago snakes, Galaxy Squad insects, Atlantis sea creatures, and a handful of minifigure series characters as an honorary Chima citizen.

  4. I feel bad for the winner, not that he paid $325, but that he still had to pay $9 S&H *facepalm*

  5. Any update on this? I thought we were supposed to see it starting Nov. 16, but now they are doing the Batwing polybag.

  6. I think it’s pretty sleazy of Lego to do that and frankly it’s fraud adverting the figure as a Comic Con exclusive when it wasn’t. Now Lego has totally trashed their reputation with Comic Con attendees. Why evne bother to go to their booth in 2015 considering they LIE about so called exclusives when they aren’t……….

    • The sets were the exclusives, and most of the individual minifigures, just not the minifigures in any of the sets this year, I guess. I’m glad about that, myself.
