LEGO Star Wars Summer 2014 Sets Released in United States!

I’ve been obsessively hitting up at least one of my nearby LEGO Stores almost every day this month, and thankfully for my sanity, persistence has finally paid off! After being released overseas earlier this summer, the entire wave of LEGO Star Wars Summer 2014 sets has now arrived in United States stores! This wave includes some vehicles that are all-new to the LEGO Star Wars universe, as well as some long-awaited remakes of popular sets like the LEGO Mos Eisley Cantina and the new LEGO Imperial Star Destroyer!

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Sets ReleasedMy obsessive-compulsive nature has paid off yet again, as I was able to be at the LEGO Store this week just as they were putting the new Summer 2014 LEGO Star Wars sets onto the shelves! I don’t have the funds to pick up all of the sets at the moment (or possibly ever, with the sheer mass of new LEGO sets coming out this year), but I did get to confirm the US prices for the sets and take front and back photos of the boxes for every single set.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Imperial Star Destroyer 75055 BoxThe biggest and most expensive of all the LEGO Star Wars summer sets for 2014 is the new LEGO Imperial Star Destroyer 75055. This is the first LEGO Star Destroyer set to feature the spring-loaded missile launchers.

75055 LEGO Star Wars Star Destroyer Box BackIf  you already own an earlier LEGO Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer release, there’s not all that much here to get excited about, unfortunately. You can check out my preview of the LEGO 75055 Imperial Star Destroyer from the New York Toy Fair 2014 for more of my thoughts on this year’s Star Destroyer set.

75054 LEGO Star Wars AT-AT 2014 Summer Set Box ReleasedStar Wars fans never get tired of AT-AT Walkers, so it was a no-brainer for LEGO to produce a new LEGO AT-AT 75054 set for 2014. Like the Imperial Star Destroyer, the new 2014 AT-AT LEGO set features spring-loaded missiles for the first time.

2014 LEGO AT-AT Star Wars 75054 SetThe LEGO 75054 box back, shown here for the first time, illustrates all of the opening hatches and moving parts of the new AT-AT. At $109.99 for 1137 pieces, this set also turns out to be a very good value, especially considering how expensive the older LEGO Star Wars AT-AT sets are getting on the aftermarket.

75052 LEGO Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina Released

My very favorite 2014 summer LEGO Star Wars set is easily the new LEGO Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina 75052. This new 2014 LEGO Mos Eisley Cantina puts the original LEGO release of the Cantina to shame, and gives us a long-awaited new LEGO Greedo minifigure and a trio of LEGO Cantina Band Member minifigures.

I have a hunch that the Cantina Band LEGO Minifigures are going to be hot on the aftermarket, as plenty of folks (including me!) are going to want a quintet of these Bith aliens!

Box Back 2014 LEGO Mos Eisley Cantina 75052The 75052 LEGO Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina is a bit overpriced at $69.99 for 616 pieces, but with eight minifigures, a big LEGO Dewback figure, a LEGO Landspeeder and a fairly big LEGO Cantina playset included with the set, I can’t bring myself too whine too, too much about the value of this set. I knew this was going to be my #1 priority LEGO Star Wars summer set when I saw LEGO 75052 at the NY Toy Fair 2014 back in February, and it still is. Looks great!

LEGO Star Wars Summer 2014 MTT 75058 Box BackThe LEGO MTT 75058 shocked everyone when it showed up in stores overseas without even being announced beforehand, but now it’s officially out in the United States as well. We still don’t know what U.S. retail will share the 75058 LEGO MTT with the LEGO Store as an exclusive, but I took a photo of the back of the box so everyone could get an idea of this set’s features.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Summer Snowspeeder and B-Wing SetsThe last two Original Trilogy Star Wars LEGO 2014 Summer sets are the LEGO B-Wing 75050 and the LEGO Snowspeeder 75049. We’ve seen both of these vehicles several times in the past, and neither brings a whole lot of newness to the table besides the spring-loaded missiles.

75049 LEGO 79050 LEGO Star Wars B-Wing and Snowspeeder Set Box BacksPriced at $29.99, the LEGO Star Wars Snowspeeder 75049 is one of only two LEGO Star Wars Summer 2014 sets with a price-point of under $30. Man, this summer’s sets are really pricey! The B-Wing is priced at $49.99, which I wouldn’t be entirely surprised to see the set struggle at sales-wise (especially with no support stand base included this time around).

LEGO Star Wars Jedi Scout Fighter 75051 ReleasedFrom the Expanded Universe, we’ve got what I assume will be the final LEGO Star Wars The Yoda Chronicles set: the LEGO Jedi Scout Fighter 75051! While the LEGO Star Wars Jedi Scout Fighter itself has a really interesting designs, this is a set that’s more exciting for its inclusion of an Ithorian Jedi minifigure, as well as an RA-7 Droid minifigure and an Astromech Droid that is basically a LEGO R2-B1.

This is a set that I legitimately might buy more for my interest in the minifigures than any attachment that I have to the spaceship itself!

LEGO Star Wars Ghost 75053 Box on Shelf

Perhaps the sets I was most surprised to see released already, however, are the LEGO Star Wars Rebels sets! With no known start date for the Rebels cartoon series yet, I thought Disney might put a hold on releasing the LEGO Rebels toys in the United States until closer to the premiere date of the show. I guess not!

The LEGO Rebels The Ghost 75053 ship is very unique-looking compared to every other LEGO Star Wars spaceship I can ever remember seeing, and it’s not even a bad value at $89.99 for 929 pieces. Even so, I expect that this LEGO 75053 Ghost set is going to struggle a bit in stores until the Rebels TV Series makes it debut.

75048 LEGO Star Wars Rebels Ghost BoxAnd finally, the single-cheapest of the LEGO Star Wars Summer 2014 sets: the LEGO Rebels The Phantom 75048 set. This is a cute little LEGO Star Wars vehicle which exclusively (at least for now) comes with the LEGO Chopper Droid minifigure and the LEGO Ezra minifigure. For $24.99, I expect this 234 piece set to do very well in stores after the Star Wars Rebels cartoon starts airing in fall 2014.

LEGO Rebels The Ghost 75048 ReleasedThe 2014 LEGO Star Wars summer sets have now been released in United States LEGO Stores, and should be arriving at Toys R Us Stores shortly (and at inflated prices). I’ll post updates on the Bricks And Bloks Facebook Page once these sets show up on Amazon and other online retailers, so make sure to ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have news and alerts sent right to your Facebook Newsfeed!

Which of the LEGO Star Wars Summer 2014 sets (if any) do you have your sights set on first, LEGO Star Wars collectors? Is this Original Trilogy-heavy wave your favorite LEGO Star Wars wave in quite a while?

LEGO Star Wars Summer 2014 Sets Released in United States! — 4 Comments

  1. the ghost and jedi scout fighter have no pictures of the back of the box, i just thought it might help to know.

  2. I don’t know how I can justify purchasing all these for my son. Already have a huge backlog of lego and kreo sets I’ve picked up this year for his bday and xmas. Dang you Lego!

  3. I’ve been obsessively checking for these just as you have, looking for pre-orders or early shelf stock. What store did you find these at, out of curiosity? I have $210 saved aside for months now for the Snowspeeder, AT-AT & Mos Eisley Cantina, want to pick them up all at once, and hopefully the Imperial Star Destroyer at some later point if I can afford to. Now to figure out where I’m going to display them all, argh! My wife is going to love this, haha! She loves putting them together with me, but not all the space they take up!
