LEGO Marvel Summer 2015 Sets List! Carnage! Ant-Man!

I’m still on vacation in sunny Orlando (in fact, I’m planning on hitting up the Downtown Disney LEGO Store later tonight), but some news has leaked out that I just had to stop and take a few minutes to talk about. We won’t see the “winter” 2015 LEGO Marvel sets (based on Avengers Age of Ultron) hit stores for several months yet, but the list of LEGO Marvel Summer 2015 Sets has now been revealed: including the first-ever LEGO Carnage and Ant-Man minifigures!

As is becoming the norm, leaked list of “rumored” but almost unquestionably factual LEGO Marvel 2015 Summer Sets has popped up–way, way ahead of when the sets are ready to be shown off!

The Summer 2015 LEGO Marvel sets are:

76036 Carnage’s S.H.I.E.L.D. Sky Attack
76037 Rhino and Sandman Supervillain Team
76039 LEGO Marvel’s Ant-Man

The first two sets will be released under the Ultimate Spider-Man banner, although the version of Carnage released will almost certainly be the comic book/video game version and not the weird Peter Parker Carnage from the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.

Now, Carnage seems like a bit of a weird character to make a kid-friendly LEGO toy of, seeing as how the character is a deranged redneck serial killing monster and all. That said, Carnage does appear in the LEGO Marvel video game, so I suppose all’s fair (and I wanted a LEGO Carnage minifigure for the longest time anyway)!

As for LEGO 76037: a LEGO Sandman minifigure and a LEGO Rhino figure (most likely a Big Fig)? Yes, please! Both Sandman and Rhino are classic and popular Spider-Man villains, and will make amazing (and strong-selling) additions to the LEGO Spider-Man lineup.

I’m especially psyched about the Sandman LEGO minifigure, as the battle with Sandman in the LEGO Marvel video games was crazy and one of the most memorable parts of the game.

Finally, LEGO 76038 Marvel’s Ant-Man will (obviously) be released to go alongside the Ant-Man movie coming out in summer 2015. This set is rumored to come under the “Avengers Assemble” cartoon banner, which would be logical–it really wouldn’t make a lot of sense for LEGO to get the license for the Ant-Man movie just to make one set.

The movie Antman costume is “close enough” to the Avengers Assemble cartoon version of the costume that the LEGO Ant-Man minifigure we get should be able to pass for either (although the movie Ant-Man helmet is rather different from the cartoon version).

What do you think of these not-quite-official LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Summer 2015 sets, LEGO fans? Are you anxious to see any of these sets when they’re revealed at the New York Toy Fair 2015 in February?

LEGO Marvel Summer 2015 Sets List! Carnage! Ant-Man! — 12 Comments

  1. Greetings, Not much interest for me with the Summer releases but I was surprised 2 days ago when the Series 13 Lego Minifugures were found on an endcap at my local Target in San Pedro, CA. I was able to get 13 of the figures from the 13 series but could not find the hot dog guy, sheriff or samuri gal.. I guess that was pretty good for the amount of people mostly kids who were trying to find full sets of 16.

  2. Pretty excited about the Sandman/Rhino set, since both are iconic villains (here’s hoping for a classic look for both), so I’ll probably be getting it unless it’s just a terrible set otherwise (e.g., Spider-Trike). The Carnage set I’m waiting to see, since Cafnage to me epitomizes 90s excess, but, hey, it could be cool.

What I’d love to see in the sets:

    1) in the Carnage set, an Agent Coulson and one or two other SHIELD agents.

    2) in either/both sets, something other than the same old Ultimate Spider-Man minifigure, ideally something radically different, like an Iron Spider or Scarlet Spider or something.

    3) Gwen Stacy.

    4) A costume-less Peter Parker.

    • Actually, a really reliable source has stated that the rhino will be brickbuilt (arrggg!!) BUT he also stated there was going to be a new costyme for spider man (well, he didnt said which suit, but its most likely iron spider

    • Right! That’s an image of the LEGO Marvel video game Ant-Man.

But like I said–the toy is more likely to look like Avengers Assemble Ant-Man, who has almost the same costume as movie Ant-Man.

The video game model just happens to be the only existing image of an official LEGO Ant-Man at the moment.

  3. Carnage! Awesome villain and great news. Hope his minifigure is detailed and creepy looking. Will definitely scoop that up.

  4. Really looking forward to the Carnage minifigure! Excellent news! He’s an awesome villain. I hope it’s detailed. Thanks for all of the great updates on here.

  5. So not in favor of a brick-built Rhino. I could see a brick-built Sandman, with a minifigure torso and head, but brick body, but Rhino seems ideal for a bigfig, along the lines of the LEGO Marvel game or the recent Chinese bootleg.

  6. Well if the rino is brick built i will definitely be getting the decool big fig rino

  7. Please lego, don’t give us anymore spider-vechicules, spider-man NOT Batman! Batman has a car, spider-man doesn’t!
