LEGO Ninjago 2014 Destructoid 70726 Set Announced & Photos!

There’s one more winter LEGO Ninjago 2014 set that I haven’t discussed yet, but I think it’s time I remedied that situation! LEGO has now released photos of the final 2014 LEGO Ninjago set (or at least the final one of the sets being released in January 2014): the LEGO Ninjago Destructoid 70726. While the LEGO Destructoid isn’t the largest or most impressive of the 2014 Ninjago LEGO sets, it can boast something that none of its counterparts can: it’s a retailer store exclusive…

The LEGO 2014 Ninjago Destructoid 70726 is part of the latter group (at least, in my opinion). The set contains 253 pieces and three minifigures, and will be sold exclusively through the LEGO Stores and an unknown retailer in January 2014 (this set is expected to be released after the other LEGO Ninjago 2014 sets, which should hit stores in December 2013).

70726 LEGO Ninjago Destructoid Winter 2014 Set Close-Up

The main component of LEGO 70726 Destructoid is, of course, the LEGO Destructoid itself. Unfortunately, the Nindroid Destructoid tanks end up looking a little bit doofy. The little discs that the Destructoid shoots that have shuriken designs on them look really dumb, and I have a tough time seeing the battle potential of the sword/saw blade arms and their limited range of motion.

I’m really liking Ninjago in 2014, but this particular set Ninjago Destructoid set is seeming a mite peculiar to me (which may be why LEGO decided not to bring the Destructoid out as a mass release item, but as a limited exclusive instead).

LEGO Destructoid 70726 Ninjago 2014 Set ExclusiveThe biggest selling point for the 70726 LEGO Ninjago Destructoid is actually not the Destructoid vehicle itself at all, but rather a single minifigure that comes with the set. Two of the three figures included with the 2014 LEGO Destructoid vehicle are repacks that will be appearing in a number of sets (a LEGO General Cryptor minifigure and a generic LEGO Nindroid minifigure), but the third and last minifigure in the set is exclusive to LEGO 70726.

LEGO Ninjago 2014 Zane Minifigure Normal Appearance without Nindroid PartsFans were wondering whether or we’d be seeing a standard figure of the Ninjago white ninja, Zane, as part of the Ninjago Winter 2014 sets wave, and this set gives us a definitive answer to that question: “Yes!”. Zane will also be available in the LEGO Ninjago 70724 Ninja Copter set, but that set’s Zane will have a battle-damaged half-robot/half-human Zane. The only place to get a fully-human LEGO 2014 Zane minifigure will be with the Destructoid set (which is a real shame for my bank account, because I’d otherwise pass on the set).

LEGO 2014 Ninjago 70726 Destructoid BoxThe LEGO Ninjago Destructoid 70726 set is scheduled to be released in December 2013. I’ll post an update once LEGO confirms the suggested retail price for LEGO 70726 and we determine exactly what store (other than the LEGO Store) the Destructoid will be exclusive to, and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have news and updates sent straight over to your Facebook Newsfeed.

What do you think of the final one of the winter 2014 Ninjago sets to be revealed, LEGO fans? Is the LEGO 70726 Destructoid bound for your shelf, or is this set not a keeper for your collection?

  1. Chima had an exclusive set for each of the three big chains, but as far as I know most of the other store exclusives over the years have belonged to Toys R Us. Of course the Lego Store and Shop at Home has them too.

    • Walmart and Target both regularly get exclusive sets as well. In fact, both Walmart and Target have exclusive LEGO Star Wars sets right now.

  2. any idea when and where this set will be released? I found 2 on ebay but that’s the only place I see them?
