October 2014 LEGO Store Calendar Sales Promos & Events!

It’s the last day of the month, one of the days that I get most excited about each and every month! Why? Because the final day of each month is (usually) when LEGO lets us peek into their crystal ball and see the LEGO Store calendar for the month that we’re a month and a day away from! Today is no different, as we’re being gifted with our first look at the LEGO Store October 2014 Calendar. And while there’s only one LEGO free promo set in October 2014, it’s a doozy! Plus: the long-awaited return of LEGO Double VIP Points!

October 2014 LEGO Store CalendarIt’s still August as of writing, but what better way to look past September entirely than with the October 2014 LEGO Store calendar?! While October is traditionally the spookiest, most Halloween-themed month of the year, this year’s LEGO Store October 2014 Calendar is a good mix of Christmas and Halloween! (I wonder if LEGO has ever considered a LEGO Nightmare Before Christmas theme…?)

LEGO VIP Member Double Points October 2014 LEGO Stores

The biggest happening at the LEGO Store in October 2014 is that the beloved LEGO VIP Double Points promo is making one of its few appearances for the year–and will last throughout the entire month of October!

With the LEGO Double Points promo going on, you get a $5 reward credit for every $50 you spend at the LEGO Store. Considering the number of major exclusive LEGO product launches that have happened in the second half of 2014, that’s a major deal! That means you can nab $20 credit with a purchase of the LEGO Batman Tumbler, $30 credit with a LEGO Jawa Sandcrawler, $7 credit from LEGO Santa’s Workshop and so forth! When you buy a lot of LEGO sets, the rewards stack up fast during these LEGO Double VIP Rewards promos!

2014 LEGO Holiday Set 40106 Free PromoThe one free promo on the LEGO Stores October 2014 Calendar is for the free exclusive LEGO Holiday Set 40106, one of the two LEGO 2014 Holiday set promos (the other will be available on Brick Friday weekend in November). I posted a whole huge blurb with my thoughts on this 40106 LEGO Holiday set earlier today, so be sure to check that out if you’re interested (and who isn’t interested in free sets?).

LEGO Minifigures Series 12 71007 Release & LEGO October 2014 Mini Monthly BuildThe first week of October 2014 LEGO Store calendar includes two releases–one major and one just for kids! First off, the hotly-anticipated LEGO Minifigures Series 12 71007 blind bags will finally be officially available on October 1st, 2014! I’ve heard reports that these blind bags are already starting to leak out in limited numbers in some stores, but it’s on October 1 2014 that the LEGO 71007 Series 12 Minifigures will be officially available for purchase. Get your pennies (well, more like dollars) ready!

In addition, the LEGO Free Monthly Mini Model Build will be on Tuesday, October 7th 2014. This month’s is actually really cool, as the October 2014 LEGO Monthly Mini Model Build is a brick-built Frankenstein! The event is (annoyingly) only for kids (as usual), so us old codgers will have to buy the LEGO Frankenstein second-hand if we want one.

LEGO Stores October 2014 CalendarAs per usual, the back of the LEGO Stores October 2014 Calendar is a mite bland. We get official confirmation that the 2013 LEGO Winter Village Market 10235 will be returning this fall, as well as the announcement of the Flatiron District LEGO Store opening and the aforementioned LEGO October 2014 Mini Monthly Model Build Frankenstein.

LEGO Store Trick or Treat 2014The only other thing on the back of the calendar that really caught my eye is the announcement that you can get a special LEGO treat for wearing a Halloween costume to the LEGO Store on Halloween 2014. I imagine they’re going to grumble at adults who try to participate, but for once LEGO did forget to include an age restriction on this offer. When it comes to collecting, I know no shame–I’ll be at the LEGO Store in costume October 31st!

What do you think of the sales, free promos and events LEGO has lined up for the LEGO Stores in October 2014, LEGO collectors? Are you excited to head into your local LEGO Store for Double VIP Points and the free LEGO 2014 Holiday set, or does it take more happenings than that to really get your LEGO-buying blood pumping?
