LEGO 5004077 Minifigures Exclusive Set! Lightning Lad!

Well, now–! I’m not surprised to see another 2015 LEGO Exclusive set uncovered (what with the crazy number of leaks in the last month), but I am definitely surprised by the content of this set. Hot on the heels of the popular LEGO Superboy minifigure cube that was released as a Target exclusive this winter, we’ll be getting another LEGO Minifigures Set of four minifigures in cube packaging in 2015–this time with… a LEGO Lightning Lad minifigure!?

LEGO Lightning Lad Minifigure from LEGO 5004077 Exclusive Set

My interest in DC Comics has dwindled a lot since the launch of the DC New 52 universe, and a big part of that is DC’s abandonment (and retconning of) the Legion of Super-Heroes.

But while the Legion of Super-Heroes has failed to capture a major audience in the last few decades, the Legionnaires are definitely still near and dear to my heart. I never, ever imagined that the day would come when a LEGO Legion of Super-Heroes minifigure would be released, but it appears that day is fast approaching in 2015!

5004077 LEGO Sir Fangar Minifigure from Exclusive Cube Minifigures SetLightning Lad is one of the three founding members of the Legion of Super-Heroes, so it makes sense for him to be the first-ever LEGO LoSH figure. I sort of doubt we’ll ever get LEGO Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy minifigures to accompany him (not to mention Brainiac 5), but I sure wouldn’t object if we did!

Because Superboy is traditionally associated with the Legion of Super-Heroes, there’s a little Superman emblem next to the LEGO Lightning Lad minifigure on the package. It’s not meant to imply that this is a variant of Superman or anything like that, for those not familiar with the Legion.

LEGO Scuba Diver Minifigure from LEGO 5004077 Minifigures SetAside from Lightning Lad, the LEGO 5004077 Minifigures set will include three more Minifigures: a LEGO Chima Sir Fangar minifigure (in his pre-Ice form), a LEGO Ninjago Kai figure (in his previously unreleased 2014 outfit), and a LEGO City Scuba Diver minifigure.

With the exception of the Lightning Lad LEGO figure, this is a pretty bland assortment. Sir Fangar and Kai are easy to acquire characters from their respective themes (although there are all-new versions of the characters), and I feel like there’s already a million LEGO Scuba Diver Minifigures in the various LEGO Minifigures Series (even if there’s actually only a couple).

LEGO Ninjago Kai Red Ninja Minifigure 2015 5004077 LEGO SetThe release specifics of this set are shrouded in mystery, as we almost certainly aren’t supposed to know about this exclusive 5004077 LEGO Minifigures set for several months yet. I’ll post an update here and to the Bricks and Bloks Facebook Page once more information about this LEGO figures set is known (including when, where and how it will be available).

Thoughts on this LEGO Minifigures 5004077 set, LEGO fans? Do you like this minifigure cubes, or do you feel like LEGO is loading them with too few unique/new characters to make them worthwhile?

  1. I don’t believe it’s Kai’s 2015 outfit, but the outfit worn at the end of last season. There was the Zane and Lloyd versions in summer 2014 ninjago releases.

Sir Fangar looks like his pre-ice state.

    • I believe it is Sir Fangar’s post-Great Illumination state, as the version is exactly the same as the one in the cartoon…

Anyways, Kai and Fangar are big highlights for me as it is great to get exclusive Minifigs for any theme, and it’s great that themes I like such as Ninjago and Chima get some attention as far as exclusive figures goes…

  2. Kai and that wolf guy r actually exclusive versions of the characters only avalible in this box thing…so…yeah.

  3. Got the Superboy one & will definitely get this one as well. I wish Lego would just release a 4 pack of unique DC Characters instead of bunching them up with other characters I have no interest in.

  4. The series 6 astronaut mini figure with long blonde hair and a pink suit with Saturn chest logo has always seemed like Saturn Girl to me. It’ll be fun to pair her with the new Lightning Lad figure.

  5. I would prefer lego Marvel than DC because there is more variety, and the Kai and Sir Fangar are actually the exclusive since most people don’t know who lighting lad is.

P.S. I got the exclusive Rocket Raccoon polybag!!!

  6. Better this than crap like SDCC exclusives for these one-off things that fill in gaps in the respective Lego universes but don’t fit into any sets. (Although the SDCC stuff does tend to always be DC and Marvel characters, rather than Lego originals like Chima and Ninjago.)
