LEGO Star Wars Admiral Yularen Minifigure! May the 4th 2015

Well, any skepticism that I had regarding that leaked list of LEGO Store 2015 exclusives that appeared online last week is definitely fading. One of the items on that list was the supposed LEGO Star Wars May the 4th 2015 Admiral Yularen minifigure. I didn’t really doubt a LEGO Admiral Yularen would be the promo–there was just no proof. But, well… now there is! The May the 4th 2015 LEGO Star Wars Admiral Yularen minifigure promo has now been revealed!

Man, LEGO has really got to try to get a handle on these leaks that are getting both earlier and more widespread. The 2015 May the 4th LEGO minifigure revealed while we’re still in 2014? Crazy! And unprecedented.

I really appreciate that LEGO has traditionally been able to keep secrets hidden until they’re ready to reveal then throughout the year, but unfortunately that seems to be quickly be becoming a thing of the past.

Admiral Yularen Clone Wars vs Star Wars A New Hope Comparison PhotoAnyway, Admiral Yularen is a fairly prominent character in the Star Wars universe–at least, as far as Imperial Officers go. Wullf Yularen is probably best known as the intro narrator in episodes of Clone Wars and the naval commander of Anakin Skywalker’s fleet. Yularen appeared in dozens of episodes of Star Wars Clones Wars, and was a voice-over on almost every episode of the show.

Of course, Wullf Yularen’s earliest fame isn’t from Clone Wars–it’s from his appearance in the Star Wars Original Trilogy! Yularen appeared briefly in Star Wars: A New Hope, where he, uhh… stood around a conference table before getting blown up on the Death Star. Poor guy.

I would have much preferred a LEGO Admiral Yularen Clone Wars figure to the movie version Admiral Yularen minifigure that we’re getting for LEGO May the 4th 2015, as Yularen does far, far, far more in Clone Wars than he ever did in the Star Wars Original Trilogy. But alas. No use crying over spilled blue milk.

LEGO 5002947 Admiral Yularen Minifigure Polybag May the 4th 2015 PromoAs with all LEGO polybags, the back of the LEGO Star Wars May the 4th 2015 Admiral Yularen minifigure’s packaging isn’t much to look at, but it does reveal the “set” designation for the LEGO Admiral Yularen figure: LEGO 5002947. Thrilling, right?

LEGO May the 4th 2015 Admiral Yularen Minifigure PromoI’ll post an update once LEGO officially announces the LEGO Yularen minifigure (which probably won’t happen until the end of March 2015), and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have more news, photos and updates sent right to your Facebook Newsfeed.

What do you think of the 5002947 LEGO Star Wars 2015 May the 4th Admiral Yularen promo minifigure, LEGO fans? Are you excited to add a new Imperial Admiral to your LEGO collection, or is this a LEGO minifigure that’s way too plain and trivial to get you psyched up?

  1. “Man, LEGO has really got to try to get a handle on these leaks that are getting both earlier and more widespread.”

What I have often wondered is, are these leaks intentional? Is Lego security really this inept? Or do they sanction these leaks, even orchestrate them, in order to build buzz for their new products?

Many of the leaks seem to come from the same person over and over again. How is it that Lego cannot figure out where the leak is coming from? Lego must be behind this. Right?

  2. I agree, I was hoping for the Clone Wars version.. I didn’t even know he was in the original trilogy ! Feel like a bad SW fan, now. 😐 Still a really neat polybag, though. I’m happy with these super early leaks so that I can plan my purchases !

  3. Original Trilogy version very cool. I didn’t recognize the name from the leaked list so had to read the Star Wars wiki. I want to add this minifig to my Imperial collection.

  4. sorry to nerd it out here but the minifigure costume is actually of yularen as a colonel in the imperial security bureau during episode IV. he had moved to imperial intelligence after serving as an admiral during the clone wars. most people outside of the die hards would probably not recognize him as a colonel though. I only know about it because i played the star wars CCG back in the day and colonel wulf yularen was a card. this was before any of the clone wars franchise had come out.

    • Ah, but the Star Wars CCG is now out of continuity, as Disney wiped the entire Star Wars Expanded Universe except for the movies and Clone Wars. Thus, we only know of Yularen as an Admiral–his station as a Colonel existed only in now-defunct continuity. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. =D

  5. Wow, wasn’t expecting my list to be confirmed this early… No, the leaks were not intentional by Lego… Or were they? I won’t confirm or deny anything, just that I got this from an official Lego source.

PS I’m from Washington, not Singapore. 😀

    • You’re not fooling me, Legozebra! I thought I either had gone insane or my reading comprehension skills had withered away, but your Eurobricks profile definitely says “Singapore”. 😛

      • Whaaaaaat???? Now I am so confused, off to change it! It used to say “Blacktron City,” but I did go on vacation in Singapore this summer so perhaps it is location based? I’ve been back since August though…..

  6. well not quite, while Star Wars CCG did in fact include certain EU elements (such as TIE Defenders), the majority of their cards specifically referenced the movies themselves. in fact, prior to Decipher losing their license to wizards of the coast, the CCG had already had several expansion packs based around episode I.

Additionally, what Yularen is wearing is not an Admiral’s uniform. While a Grand Admiral’s uniform is indeed white, Yularen was never made a Grand Admiral; if he were still an admiral, he’d be wearing the same uniform as Motti (who was choked by Vader) or as Ozzel (choked by Vader in ESB), or Piett (Commander of the Executor in RotJ).

  7. There is no way that these “leaks” are anything but intentional. This is simply the new way of marketing: “Quick everyone! Come look at these leaked photos from this obscure European blog before they are gone!”

Also, an Imperial Officer exclusive minfig? Yawn…
