As we enter 2014, we have a nearly uncountable number of new LEGO sets to look forward, as well as new themes like LEGO Simpsons, new LEGO Minifigures Series, and even the theatrically released LEGO Movie! But that’s not all we have to look forward to, as 2014 will be a rare year where there will be not one, but two major LEGO video games released! The first is “The LEGO Movie” video game, and the second is the long-awaited “LEGO The Hobbit” video game, the trailer for which was recently released…

The worst-kept secret in video games was the development of a brand-new LEGO The Hobbit 2014 video game. LEGO started putting “Coming Soon!” blurbs in the instruction booklets for the LEGO The Hobbit sets close to a year ago, so it was pretty certain that the arrival of a LEGO Hobbit video game was only a matter of time. And that time is going to be Q2 2014–somewhere in the range of April to June 2014!

With the 2014 LEGO The Hobbit video game that will include video game versions of “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” and “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” just a few months away, Warner Bros. decided it was time to show off a full-length announcement trailer during the latter half of December…

Now, it’s worth mentioning that this LEGO Hobbit video game will not cover the third movie in the Hobbit trilogy:  “The Hobbit: There And Back Again”, as that movie will not be released until the end of 2014. Could we have a special edition LEGO The Hobbit 2015 video game coming our way that will reunite The Hobbit 3 with its LEGO Hobbit video game brothers? We’ll have to wait and see!

The LEGO The Hobbit video game is expected to be available in Spring 2014 (although it wouldn’t be shocking if the game was pushed back), and will be released on all major video game consoles including the Nintendo 3DS, Mac, PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Vita, Xbox 360 and Wii U. (Sorry, original Wii owners!)
