LEGO Hobbit Legolas 30215 Minifigure Polybag Exclusive Announced!

Get ready to groan, LEGO collectors! If you’re getting tired of having to buy LEGO video games, DVDs, and movie tickets just to get exclusive LEGO minifigures, there’s unfortunately not going to be any rest in sight. We’ve been wondering how the LEGO The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug LEGO Legolas Greenleaf 30215 minifigure polybag was going to be released in the United States, and now we know (unfortunately). The LEGO 30215 Legolas Greenleaf polybag will be free… with purchase of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug DVD/Blu Ray Combo Pack.

LEGO The Hobbit Blu Ray DVD Combo Pack

Oh, LEGO. I used to really enjoy the occasional promo where you’d get an exclusive minifigure with a book or video game purchase. But lately, I feel like there’s just been an insane number of LEGO exclusives that you have to buy something expensive in order to obtain, and I’m really feeling a bit of fatigue and burnout from chasing after them all. With the recent announcement of the LEGO Good Morning Bilbo Baggins minifigure exclusive, I was rather hoping we wouldn’t get any more exclusives–at least for a short while. That’s not the case.

LEGO The Hobbit Legolas Greenlead 30215 Polybag Promo with Blu Ray ComboInstead, the exclusive way that the 30215 LEGO Legolas Greenleaf polybag is being distributed in the United States (and presumably some other countries) will be packed in with The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Blu Ray + DVD + Digital Copy combo pack. Ugh. Considering that this LEGO The Hobbit Legolas polybag was sold individually in Europe without having to jump through hoops, it’s pretty frustrating that collectors in other countries will have to buy a $25-$36 Blu Ray set just to get this polybag.

There are no exclusive marking on the box this time, so this set may be exclusive to one retailer (such as Target) again, or it may go to multiple retail chains (which I think is likely). We’ll have to wait and see to know for sure.

LEGO Legolas Greenleaf 30215 PolybagI bought The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Blu Ray last year just to get the LEGO Blue Coat Bilbo minifigure, but I don’t think that I’m going to pick up this DVD/Blu Ray this year just to get another Legolas minifigure. Personally, I’ll wait for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Extended Edition before purchasing a hard copy of the movie this time–“just another” Legolas isn’t enough to make me double-dip in this instance.

What about you, LEGO collectors? Are you excited for this Legolas polybag exclusive promo and planning to pick up the Desolation of Smaug combo pack, or are you burned out on too many promotional minifigures in too short a span of time?

  1. They need to spread the time longer for releasing exclusives because it seems like greedy companies are taking advantage of fans that like exclusive items, but it is getting out of control with the companies greed. There doesn’t have to be so many exclusives and just release popular figures that many fans want. Is Lego trying to make a small 200 people happy with exclusives or do they want to make the mass population of fans happy? If lego was smart they would produce higher amounts of desired popular figures that many want. Every once in a while lego can do an exclusive, but it should be spread out to make them special.

  2. I’m a bit disappointed that I didn’t find this article sooner. I bought the Bluray/DVD combo pack off Amazon, which of course didn’t come with the mini-figure.
