Earlier this month, images leaked out from Hong Kong of a previously-unannounced LEGO Bain minifigure. With no new LEGO The Hobbit sets scheduled for release in 2015, it seemed almost certain that this exclusive Bain figure would be the pack-in for this year’s Target Exclusive The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies DVD/Blu-Ray Combo Pack. And as it so happens–it is! But why settle for one free LEGO Minifigure when you can have two?! A LEGO Bard the Bowman minifigure will also be included with the set!

I have to be honest–as much as I’ve adored Peter Jackson’s Tolkien movies, I really, really didn’t like “The Hobbit The Battle of Five Armies”. I thought that Smaug was dealt with too quickly, the majority of the Dwarfs became incidental and meaningless, Thorin’s fall to the dark side seemed ridiculous, and the way the final fates of several beloved characters played out left a sour taste in my mouth.

That said, while I didn’t especially love the actual Hobbit Battle of Five Armies movie, I’m always up for more LEGO Hobbit minifigures! And thanks to Target’s Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack exclusive, we’ve got one new LEGO Hobbit minifigure (and one old) still to come this year!

Though the official release date for the final Hobbit movie on DVD/Blu-Ray hasn’t yet been announced, Target has already posted pre-orders for their exclusive combo pack of the movie online! This listing not only confirms that the previously-seen LEGO Bain Son of Bard minifigure will in fact come with this set, but that a LEGO Bard the Bowman minifigure will also be packed in! Two LEGO minifigures for the price of none? Yes, please!

Bain was one of the few bright spots for me in The Hobbit Battle of Five Armies movie, so I’m excited to get another version of Bain as what is likely to be the final LEGO Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit figure to ever be released. And getting the LEGO Bard figure that was previously only available as a San Diego Comic-Con 2014 exclusive and in an expensive LEGO Hobbit Battle of Five Armies set along with him is a worthwhile added bonus!
