LEGO Rocket Raccoon Minifigure Exclusive Released in the US!

The second most frequently-asked question I’ve gotten from LEGO fans this fall (after “When will the LEGO Frozen set be available?”) is “Will the LEGO Rocket Raccoon minifigure exclusive be available in the United States?” My answer has always been a reassuring “Hang tight; he’ll be here soon.” At least, it has been up until now, as this week my answer has changed to: “Start hitting your local stores! The LEGO Marvel Rocket Raccoon minifigure has now been released in the United States!”

Rocket Raccoon LEGO Marvel Minifigure Exclusive Polybag Set

As soon as the LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket Raccoon figure polybag made a surprise appearance internationally, domestic LEGO collectors set their sights on finding out when they’d be able to claim the Toys R Us exclusive Rocket Raccoon LEGO minifigure for themselves.

While I knew that U.S. Toys R Us stores would be receiving the LEGO Marvel Rocket Raccoon minifig, it wasn’t made official (or obvious) exactly when that was going to happen. All signs began to point to Rocket being available starting 11/16/2014, but that date came and went without Rocket appearing in most stores.

Toys R Us Exclusive LEGO Rocket Raccoon Minifigure Polybags ReleasedBut while the Rocket Raccoon minifigure didn’t appear exactly when we expected, he finally arrived at many Toys R Us stores this week! A multitude of readers have messages me to let me know that the LEGO Marvel Rocket Raccoon polybag has been put out for sale at their Toys R Us store (primarily in the Western United States right now), and William and Julio were good enough to send in photos of Rocket in-store! I haven’t found him yet in New England, but I’m checking every day, so I’m sure I’ll pick up the polybag soon.

While this is the same Rocket Raccoon figure that was available with the SDCC 2014 Exclusive LEGO Warbird set, the gun and potted baby Groot accessories that Rocket comes with are new to this set and we’re available with the Comic Con exclusive. As such, even though I’ve already got the SDCC 2014 LEGO Rocket Raccoon minifigure, this polybag is a must-buy for my Rocket Raccoon collection as well.

LEGO Free Rocket Raccoon Minifigure Promo at Toys R UsThe LEGO Rocket Raccoon polybag set is now hitting Toys R Us stores with a price-tag of $4.99. The figure will also allegedly be available as a free promo with $30 purchase on 11/21/14-11/22/14, but given the popularity of the character, Rocket may sell out at regular price before the promo can begin in stores that have already stocked him. If you don’t want to miss out on the Rocket Raccoon figure, now is the time to start checking for him!

Have you found the exclusive Rocket Raccoon LEGO minifigure polybag at your local Toys R Us, LEGO fans?

  1. What do you mean 11/16 came and went? That’s when I got mine, so I can assure you they were available. My TRU kept them behind the customer service counter since it was a limited edition set, but all I had to do was ask about it and I was handed one, which I simply bought at a regular register.

    • Stephanie–Ask your Toys R Us store to check their promotional ads for their two-day sale tomorrow and Saturday. The LEGO Rocket Raccoon is one of only four featured items for the event, so there’s no way they should be able to miss it on their promotional materials.

    • Yes, I found Set 5002144 on the shelves at my US TRU yesterday, when I went to get Rocket Raccoon. The bags were laying flat on the shelves with the other Ninjago sets.

  2. I checked every single TRU within a 25 mile radius (Chicago suburbs) to no avail. One store sold all 200 they were allotted on Sunday. Another store put them on the shelf and shortly after 1(one) customer bought every single one of them. I was unable to get any details out of the other stores, but needless to say, this poly is not nearly as easy to get a hold of as you are claiming.Would love to not pay $15+ on ebay, but alas, I am out of options.

    • When did I say this polybag would be easy to get a hold of, Scott? I actually said it would go fast and there was a risk of it being wiped out before the planned promo for the set could begin, so to hunt for it ASAP.

Toys R Us has a major sales event on 11/21-11/22 with the LEGO Rocket Raccoon as a featured promo for the set, so many stores have been holding it back. Try calling around to your local stores tomorrow morning–with any luck, at least one of the stores actually held onto the Rocket figures until the promo could begin.

  3. A local TRU had them on the sales floor last week. But when I got to the register it scanned “cannot sell till 11/16.” They manager wouldn’t let me but it then. He asked where I found it and I suspect he pulled them off the floor.
Sunday I checked the TRU nearest my house. They had them at the service desk. I got one for me and one for my son. On Monday, I checked the store I had spotted them at before and they were back on the sales floor.
I hate that some TRU have let scalpers buy bags full of them. They should enforce some kind of limit.
If your store doesn’t have them check bricklink.

  4. Polybag distribution is so horrible. Some TRUs don’t actually bother with a lot of them. It’s especially vexxing when one of the specials is running that you get a specific polybag free if you purchase a specific dollar amount of other Lego sets, and a certain store has the signs for this up but doesn’t have the relevant polybag set.

  5. No need to get snippy. I’m a big fan of this site. I guess the pics of stacks of the bag made it seem like they were all over the place. I did act quickly, but like I said, in at least one case sharks got to them first. I was just sharing my experience in case others were having issues. It’s frustrating to hear how other people can find them by the dozen when I have had no luck and have been searching diligently. Again, I wasn’t trying to put words in your mouth, just saying that even those who hunt early and call around might have problems. Sorry if my post was taken wrong. The Internet sucks for tone and some things aren’t always taken as intended.

  6. Very disappointed… The Bellevue WA TRU has an empty shelf allocated for the promo…. When I asked the employee at the register, he berated us for not coming earlier and that we shouldn’t be disappointed as we should have already expected it to be gone… So much for customer service….

  7. anyone know the sku or the ‘r’ number for these? i think here in texas the promo was for a mini tmnt van.

    • UPC 6 7341921813 lego set #5002145 That’s how it appears on the receipt. TRU had the TMNT starting on Nov 16. some locations put the Rocket set out for purchase the same day. Others waited till the 21 when it was given out if you bought $30 in LEGO sets.
