I heard rumblings that the last of the new LEGO summer/fall 2013 LEGO sets had been sighted at isolated Toys R Us stores, so I roused my migraine-ridden self out of bed and drove half an hour to not the closest Toys R Us to my location, but to the Toys R Us store near me that I have the most luck finding new and exciting items at. And my pain and patience were rewarded, as my gaze was soon met with what I’ve been waiting to see for half a year: shelves freshly stocked with all of the newest LEGO sets for the final wave of 2013, including the LEGO Legends of Chima summer sets and Gorilla Tribe minifiigures!

I love LEGO Chima. There, I said it. I know the LEGO Legends of Chima theme has caught some flak over the last several months and many people have been considering it a slow seller and questioning whether or the not the theme deserves to continue into 2014, but I really enjoy the theme, and hope to see it going strong next year with new additions from the Rhino Tribe, Bear Tribe and more. So while I also saw all of the LEGO Star Wars summer/fall 2013 sets, I’m choosing to write up my observations on the new LEGO Chima sets first, so as not to overshadow the news sets’ arrival.

There are four non-exclusive fall 2013 LEGO Chima sets, and all four sets were in-stock and available at Toys R Us tonight. Moreover, the prices on the sets–other than The Lion CHI Temple–hadn’t been inflated in any way above the MSRP (though I’d be very surprised if good old Toys R Us ups the prices in the next week or so).

The news sets that have now been released include:
LEGO Legends of Chima Eglor’s Twin Bike 70007 ($24.99)
LEGO Legends of Chima Gorzan’s Gorilla Striker 70008 ($49.99)
LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz’ Combat Lair 70009 ($79.99)
LEGO Legends of Chima The Lion CHI Temple 70010 ($139.99)

As I speculated when I wrote up the preview of the LEGO Chima Croc Hideout 70014, that set is a store exclusive that has not yet been released in the United States. I’d expect to see that set show up at the LEGO Stores in a week or so, followed by its release at whatever store took it as an exclusive (I’d guess Target).

With San Diego Comic-Con 2013 looming in under a week, I have a lot of expenses coming up (in the form of super-limited toys!), so I didn’t pick up any of the new summer/fall 2013 wave of LEGO Legends of Chima sets tonight. I absolutely love both the Gorzan Gorilla Striker and the Worriz’ Combat Lair sets, so I’ll definitely be picking both of those sets up in the near future for review and photography.
