It just wouldn’t be a return to classic Ninjago without the villains having some kind of crazy, over-the-top secret lair–and that’s just what we’re going to be getting in the January 2015 LEGO Ninjago sets wave! It’s been a little while since the Ninjago villains got a villainous LEGO playset of their own, but their time to shine is fast-approaching: the LEGO Ninjago 2015 Enter The Serpent 70749 set centers on a very cool Anacondrai Temple!

LEGO Ninjago 2015 Enter the Serpent 70749 Set Anacondrai Temple

Originally thought to be named LEGO Ninjago Anacondrai Temple 70749, the LEGO Enter The Serpent set gives the Anacondrai (and their crazy cultist followers!) a place to hang out and plot their nefarious schemes. The Enter the Serpent LEGO Anacondrai Temple looks like something straight out of LEGO Legends of Chima, and that’s a very good thing (at least for us Chima fans)!

The steps and the bridge of the temple look especially nice, as do the large purple LEGO bricks “coiled” around the entrances to the Anacondrai Temple. The best feature, of course, is the Anacondrai Head above the entrance. Who doesn’t love a giant ball-shooting snake head?

LEGO Green Ninja Lloyd ScreenshotBut as excellent as the 70749 LEGO Ninjago Enter The Serpent Anacondrai Temple itself looks, the minifigures are a bit underwhelming. The set will include five minifigures: a LEGO Blue Ninja Jay Minifigure, a LEGO Green Ninja Lloyd Garmadon Minifigure, a LEGO Anacondrai Minifigure and two LEGO Anacondrai Cult Member Minifigures (I can’t believe I just typed that).

This is the only place to get the hooded versions of Lloyd and Jay in the Winter 2015 sets, but both characters will also be available sans hoods in other sets. LEGO 70749 doesn’t end up having a bad variety of minifigures, but there’s also not really anything so exclusive here that it’s going to sway collectors who are so-so on the LEGO Anacondrai Temple to buy the set.

70749 LEGO Ninjago Temple of Anacondrai Winter 2015 LEGO Ninjago SetContaining 529 pieces and retailing for $69.99, the LEGO Ninjago Enter The Serpent 70749 set will be the largest and most expensive of the LEGO Ninjago 2015 sets coming in January 2015. The price is definitely a bit higher than I’m comfortable with for a set with 529 pieces (about 13 cents per piece), but this is visually my favorite of the 2015 LEGO Ninjago sets (and will fit right in with my Chima lairs), so it’s still a definite purchase for me.

How do you like the biggest of the known LEGO Ninjago Winter 2015 sets, Ninjago fans? Does the coolness factor of the LEGO Anacondrai Temple win you over, or are you bored by the ho-hum minifigure selection?

  1. I’m always game for more Ninjago snake sets, they are the best honorary Chima tribe. (As opposed to, say, TMNT, which only have one set that actually tries to look like a turtle.)

Snake cultists! I want to make GI Joe jokes about this.

    • Chima sucked. The only thing that I liked was that Tiger Mobile Command. But Ninjago is my favorite theme. And this is probably my fav set ever along with the Final Flight for Destiny’s bounty.
