LEGO Chima Worriz’ Fire Bike 30265 Review & Photos

LEGO Legends of Chima 30265 Worriz' Fire Bike Released

Well, this was unlikely. Ordinarily, you wouldn’t expect a LEGO polybag set that’s been given away at the LEGO Store for two consecutive months to show up for sale at mass retail. So when someone messaged me to let me know that they’d found the 30265 LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz’ Fire Bike set at their local Target store, I thought maybe it was a freak accident shipment. Nope! I strolled into Target this week and found a ton of LEGO Worriz’ Fire Bike 30265 sets myself. And since they were right in front of me, I couldn’t resist picking up an extra to review…

LEGO Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina Review & Photos 75052

LEGO Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina 75052 Review

I don’t like sand. It’s coarse and irritating and it gets everywhere. That’s what Anakin Skywalker says, and I fully agree with him. Even so, sometimes it’s necessary for me to go and play on the beach and get myself (and all my stuff) covered in sand for the good of this blog. This is one of those times. While it’s been over a month since I got my discounted LEGO Star Wars Summer 2014 Mos Eisley Cantina set online, I had my first opportunity this week to go out and take review photos of the set the only place they should be taken–in the sand! Was the LEGO Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina 75052 worth getting attacked by seagulls for? Read on…

LEGO Star Wars Imperial Shuttle 30246 Review & Photos

LEGO Star Wars Imperial Shuttle 30246 Review

This is going to shock a lot of people, but I was not a hardcore Star Wars geek as a kid. Oh, sure, growing up I could name every Ewok and Droid that Kenner made vintage figures of, but when it came to other people and vehicles in the Star Wars universe, I was a casual fan at best. The relevance of this is that I’ve never, in my entire life, owned even one toy of a Star Wars Imperial Shuttle. Crazy, right? But that 31-year streak is at an end!

Last week, I picked up the LEGO Star Wars Imperial Shuttle 30246 polybag? Was it worth my $3.99? Read on…

LEGO Movie Benny’s SPACESHIP! 70186 Review & Photos

LEGO Benny's Spaceship 70816 Review Set

Sometimes things don’t go exactly as planned. Though I bought and built The LEGO Movie Benny’s Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! 70816 set almost a full two weeks and intended to get it reviewed instantly, a combination of work, family, and the flu conspired to keep me from giving my favorite LEGO set of the year its due. But with LEGO 70816 Benny’s Spaceship officially available for order as of today, there was no way I could delay any longer. And as you might expect from one of the most important set releases in the entire LEGO Movie theme, everything is awesome about LEGO Benny’s Spaceship 70816…

LEGO Mixels Series 2 Review Flurr 41511 Blue Frosticons

LEGO Mixels Flurr Blue Frosticons Figure

In an ironic twist, LEGO finally managed to thaw out my icy disposition toward the LEGO Mixels theme by releasing a ridiculously-cute ice-type Mixels figure. When LEGO first publicly showed off LEGO Mixels Series 2 during the winter, it was in the midst of the period where I was still pretty cold (no pun intended) toward the LEGO Mixels sets as a whole.

Then I saw a certain LEGO Mixel figure and my heart changed completely–and now that Mixel has come home! It’s my first favorite in the line–LEGO Mixels Flurr 41511 of the Blue Frosticons!

LEGO Batman Tumbler 30300 Polybag Set Review

Batman LEGO Black Tumbler Set 30300 LEGO Batman 2014

By the time I came around to appreciating the Nolan Batman films, the only set with the Batman Tumbler in black cost hundreds of dollars on the aftermarket. But fear not! LEGO is aware of the demand for the Batman Tumbler, and is coming to the rescue with new models of the vehicle, including this LEGO Batman Tumbler 30300 set that can be found for $5 in some Target stores (and $9 shipped online)…

LEGO Batman Penguin Face-Off 76010 Review & Giveaway!

LEGO Penguin Duck Boat Review LEGO 76010 Batman The Penguin Face-Off

I asked fans over on the Bricks and Bloks Facebook page whether they wanted me to review the just-released LEGO Batman The Penguin Face-Off set or the LEGO Star Wars Kashyyyk Troopers set, expecting a solid victory for the new Kashyyyk Troopers. Instead, the LEGO Batman Penguin Face-Off 76010 set absolutely blew the Star Wars set out of the water! And thus, I’m not posting my first 2014 LEGO Batman review. But that’s not all! Since you guys were so enthusiastic about the Penguin Faceoff, I’ve decided to make that the free March 2014 giveaway here on Bricks and Bloks! Read the review, then enter the contest!

LEGO Mixels Series 1 Flain 41500 Review & Photos

LEGO Mixels Series 1 Flain 41500 Review

Anyone who reads regularly knows that I am not exactly the biggest proponent of the new LEGO Mixels theme debuting this winter. That said, when I walked into my local LEGO Store today and saw all of the LEGO Mixels Series 1 figures in-stock, I just knew I had to buy one and test out Mixels for myself.

As I expected, these aren’t the most compelling LEGO sets I’ve bought this year, but the Mixels LEGO sets aren’t all bad either…

LEGO Mirkwood Elf Army Review 79012 (LEGO The Hobbit 2014 Sets)

LEGO The Hobbit Mirkwood Elf Army Review

Of the LEGO The Hobbit sets released this winter, the best-selling set out the quartet is surprisingly the second-smallest of LEGO’s Desolation of Smaug offerings. You won’t find any Dwarfs, Hobbits, or Wizards here–but you will find the best LEGO Hobbit army-builder set ever! Purchased online for below cost with free shipping, I’m excited to review the very popular (and tough to find in stores) LEGO Mirkwood Elf Army 79012!

2014 LEGO Batman Man-Bat Attack Review LEGO 76011

LEGO Batman Batcopter Rope Holding Nightwing Minifigure

I’ve been talking about the LEGO 2014 sets for so many months now that it feels almost surreal to actually have some of the sets in my possession. The first batches of 2014 LEGO sets have started hitting stores, and I built my first one this week. Though LEGO DC Superheroes isn’t usually among my favorite themes, when I saw the LEGO Batman: Man-Bat Attack 76011 set, I instantly fell in love. Does the set hold up now that I’ve had it in my hands and built it? Read the 2014 LEGO Batman Man-Bat Attack review to find out…

LEGO Minifigures Series 11 71002 Figures Review Part 1

LEGO Gingerbread Man Minifigure from LEGO Series 11 Collectable Minifigures

LEGO Minifigures Series 11 officially launched in the United States (and most other countries) over the weekend, so I headed out to my local Target to pick up the quartet of Series 11 LEGO Minifigures that I wanted the most: Yeti, Gingerbread Man, Scarecrow and Holiday Elf. Well, call it overconfidence or hubris, but the LEGO blind bag I was absolutely certain contained the Holiday Elf actually had a Constable in it when I ripped it open. So this is my LEGO Minifigures Series 11 review of a trio of figures I wanted most, and one I absolutely didn’t…

LEGO Star Wars Corporate Alliance Tank Droid 75015 Review 2013

LEGO 75015 Clone Trooper Runs from Tank Droid Summer 2013 Star Wars

Confession time: I didn’t plan on buying the new Summer 2013 LEGO Star Wars Corporate Alliance Tank Droid 75015. I ragged on this set when it was unveiled at the 2013 Toy Fair, and I had no intention of buying it–right up until it was the set priced closest to the LEGO Mandalorian Speeder I was buying as part of a BOGO sale. I’m lucky I did pick the new 75015 LEGO Star Wars Tank Droid up on a whim, though–because I absolutely love it!

LEGO Lord of the Rings The Council of Elrond Review 79006

LEGO 79006 The Council of Elrond Set Complete Lord of the Rings 2013

When I first heard the rumors that LEGO was going to release a Lord of the Rings Council of Elrond set this year, immediately I started having visions of a huge, sprawling LEGO Rivendell set dancing in my head (about the size of the newly announced LEGO Star Wars Ewok Village). When I actually had the opportunity to see the actual LEGO Council of Elrond set at Toy Fair 2013 and saw how dinky it was, my heart broke. But now that I’ve had a chance to build the LEGO Lord of the Rings Council of Elrond 79006, I have to admit that while it may not be epic, it does have its charms…

Summer 2013 LEGO Castle Gold Getaway Review & Set Photos 70401

Skeleton Minifigure Drives LEGO Gold Getaway 70401 LEGO Castle Set

My heart lit up earlier this week when I located the new Summer 2013 LEGO Castle sets for the very first time. Then my excitement took a bit of a nosedive when I realized that the store didn’t get in the LEGO Castle Dragon Mountain set with its big, scary red LEGO dragon–the set I really wanted. Even so, there was no chance of me going home empty-handed, so I snagged the new LEGO Castle 2013 set that looked the best to me from what was available: the LEGO Gold Getaway 70401. Seeing the LEGO Castle Gold Getaway set as a consolation prize, I didn’t expect much from it. Now that I’ve built and played with it, I’m ready to change my tune…
