LEGO Mixels Series 2 Review Flurr 41511 Blue Frosticons

In an ironic twist, LEGO finally managed to thaw out my icy disposition toward the LEGO Mixels theme by releasing a ridiculously-cute ice-type Mixels figure. When LEGO first publicly showed off LEGO Mixels Series 2 during the winter, it was in the midst of the period where I was still pretty cold (no pun intended) toward the LEGO Mixels sets as a whole. Then I saw a certain LEGO Mixel figure and my heart changed completely–and now that Mixel has come home! It’s my first favorite in the line–LEGO Mixels Flurr 41511 of the Blue Frosticons!

41511 LEGO Flurr Mixels FigureThe Right:

The LEGO Mixels Summer 2014 sets bring us three new tribes, and at least one of them was always going to be a shoe-in as my favorite Mixels tribe, because it’s ice-themed: the Mixels Blue Frosticons. As it turns out, there’s only one blue Mixels Frosticon that I’m in love with–but man, do I ever love this one!

LEGO Mixels Flurr 41511 Unassembled PiecesThis is a very fast and easy build that any child (or adult) can put together with zero problems in 5-10 minutes (and less if you’re a particularly fast builder).

LEGO Mixels Flurr Blue Frosticons Figure

The Blue Frosticon Flurr is a rare flying LEGO Mixels figure, and has a pleasing sky blue, black, and grey and royal blue color scheme. This is more colors than we see on most LEGO Mixels toys thus far, but it’s a really pleasing color combination that impresses me more and more as I look at it.

From a cuteness standpoint, LEGO 41511 Flur is absolutely irresistible. With his clear icy tongue and little bat-like wings, he’s just the sweetest little Mixel-muffin around. My wife hates Mixels and yet she grabbed Flurr off my desk and carried it around with her for an hour today because she thought he was so cute.

LEGO Mixels Series 2 Flurr 41511 ToyAnd not only is he adorable–Flurr is also highly-articulated! With a ball-jointed head (which has an excellent range of motion), ball-jointed legs, swivel wings, rotating tongue and tail with two hinge joints, you can get a ton of cool and fun poses out of 41511 LEGO Flurr! My wife insisted on posing Flurr for the photos herself–something the likes of which I can count having happened before on very few fingers.

LEGO Blue Mixels Flurr Frosticons Figure Side ViewThe Flurr LEGO Mixels set includes three (count ’em–three!) of the extremely popular new LEGO micro joints that LEGO just debuted this year.

Considering that some of the LEGO Mixels sets include a whopping zero micro joints (poor Jawg), it’s outstanding to be able to snag three of these coveted micro LEGO ball-joints in a single polybag set for five smackers.

LEGO Mixels Summer 2014 Flurr Frosticons SetThe Wrong:

I”m not in any way trying to kiss-up to LEGO here, but I really don’t know that they could have done anything differently to improve the design or fun factor of LEGO Mixels Flurr 41511. I can’t imagine this little flying creature being any more perfect than it is.

LEGO Flurr the Mixels Frosticon Figure 2014 Summer SetsLEGO 41511 Mixels Frosticons Flurr ReviewOverall: LEGO Mixels Flurr is all-around the cutest and most well-designed of all eighteen LEGO Mixels 2014 sets that have been released thus far, in my opinion. With an amazingly adorable character design, tons of articulation and three LEGO micro joints, 41511 LEGO Flurr is the all-star of the entire LEGO Mixels line thus far.

If you’re thinking of picking up just one LEGO Mixels set to see the potential of the line and decide if LEGO Mixels might be for you, LEGO 41511 Flurr gets my fullest recommendation.
