Last week I was a bit frustrated when my search for the new Summer 2013 LEGO Castle sets turned up all the new summer LEGO sets except for the one I was looking for: 70403 LEGO Dragon Mountain. It seemed weird for all of the other sets to have found their way into retail store circulation without this last set, so many LEGO collectors (and yes, me) began speculating that LEGO Castle Dragon Mountain 70403 might in fact be a store exclusive, explaining its absence. Well, we may have been a bit hasty. I found a full stock of the LEGO 70403 Dragon Mountain summer 2013 set at my local Toys R Us today…

My heart lit up earlier this week when I located the new Summer 2013 LEGO Castle sets for the very first time. Then my excitement took a bit of a nosedive when I realized that the store didn’t get in the LEGO Castle Dragon Mountain set with its big, scary red LEGO dragon–the set I really wanted. Even so, there was no chance of me going home empty-handed, so I snagged the new LEGO Castle 2013 set that looked the best to me from what was available: the LEGO Gold Getaway 70401. Seeing the LEGO Castle Gold Getaway set as a consolation prize, I didn’t expect much from it. Now that I’ve built and played with it, I’m ready to change my tune…

LEGO Castle 2013 Sets Found in United States Stores

I was a man on a mission today, and that mission was to find and purchase the summer LEGO Castle 2013 sets! Although the resurrected LEGO Castle theme sets weren’t expected to hit retail stores until June or July 2013, LEGO fandom was stunned when some new 2013 LEGO Castle sets were spotted at retail this week. I really, really wanted the LEGO Castle Dragon Mountain 70403 set, so I went LEGO dragon hunting at my earliest opportunity today. Well… I didn’t find the LEGO Dragon Mountain set. But–BUT!! I did manage to come across almost every other LEGO Castle Summer 2013 set during my travels…

It seems that you can’t keep a good LEGO theme down, as this summer LEGO Castle will have its third coming! The LEGO Castle 2013 theme will be the second revival of the legendary LEGO Castle theme that debuted in 1978 and ran until 1997. LEGO Castle returned briefly in 2007, and it’s back for a third go in August 2013. The LEGO Castle Summer 2013 sets range will consist of five different sets. This time there’s no trolls, dwarves, or skeleton warriors. Instead it’s just good ol’-fashioned knights, horses, and oh yeah–a giant red LEGO dragon…
