LEGO Dimensions Toys Launch Tomorrow! Stores Displays!

September 2015 has turned out to be a surprisingly busy (and expensive!) month for LEGO fans, with the Force Awakens Star Wars sets hitting stores along with a variety of holiday seasonal sets. And if you’re a gamer, things are about to get a whole lot more expensive! Tomorrow is the official launch for the LEGO Dimensions toys and video game, so I headed out to stores today to see them setting up their displays…

Empty LEGO Dimensions Video Game Pegs at Target

We’ve been waiting for the launch of the LEGO Dimensions video game for so long now that seeing news, images and details emerging has become almost like background noise in my daily life.

That’s why I almost–almost–forgot that the game was officially coming out in stores as of tomorrow, Sunday September 27th 2015. But remembering that the momentous occasion was tomorrow, I just couldn’t resist going out to stores to see what was up today…

My first stop was everyone’s favorite toy-exclusive retailer chain (because they’re basically the only one left), Toys R Us!

LEGO Dimensions Toys R Us Empty Store DisplayToys R Us stores have a humongous display all set to be filled in with LEGO Dimensions Starter Kits, Team Packs, Level Packs and Fun Packs overnight!

Just how much space is TRU allocating for the LEGO Dimensions games? My store had over seventy pegs barcoded and ready to be stocked! That is an insane amount of space for one video game and its accessories!

Toys R Us LEGO Dimensions Benny Fun Pack Price TagUnfortunately, the prices at Toys R Us are whack (as usual). TRU typically doesn’t mark up video games beyond MSRP, but they’ve already added their typical LEGO price bloat and inflated the cost of Level Packs to $31.99 and Fun Packs to $16.99. I am not amused.

LEGO Dimensions Toys Display TargetWalmart and GameStop seemingly haven’t even begun to set up their displays, but I struck paydirt at Target, who have their demo unit already running and the empty pegs ready for tomorrow! Even so, Target only has around three dozen total pegs ready for the sets (there are more pegs than what’s shown above on the perpendicular display unit), so they’re likely to only have half the stock that Toys R Us ends up getting tomorrow.

I wasn’t near a local LEGO Store today, so I didn’t have a chance to see what kind of a display (if any) is being set up for Dimensions toys in the official stores, but if anyone else has been to a local store and wants to chime in, feel free to do so!

I’ll be heading out to take photos again tomorrow once the new products are actually on store shelves, and I’ll be sure to post all of my impressions and photos to the Bricks and Bloks Facebook Page.

Have your local stores started setting up for tomorrow’s big launch yet, brick fans? And are you planning on picking up a Starter Kit or any expansion packs tomorrow, or is LEGO Dimensions just not on your radar (yet)?

  1. Kinda thinking I need to get a job at the closest Lego Store…one day a week, just enough to get the employee discount.
Do you know how much the discount is??…if I tell you you’d be appling tomorrow…..
This month HAS been a Hoover on my bank account!

Thanks for all your posts, but my husband would say otherwise…(less informed is better for the bank account)

If I go to the Lego Store tomorrow I’ll LYK what I find!

  2. Toys Я Us always bumps up prices for their “toys-to-life” figures by $1, so I’m a little (a little) surprised by the fact that LEGO Dimensions products are going up by $2.
