LEGO Star Wars Rebels Phantom 75048 Revealed & Photos!

Last night I discussed the awesome LEGO Star Wars Rebels The Ghost Summer 2014 mega-set, but if that nearly $100 beast is too much for your blood, LEGO has also premiered a more economical LEGO Rebels set at the German Nuremberg Toy Fair 2014. Flying into the Star Wars Rebels animated series–and our LEGO collections in Summer 2014–it’s the LEGO Star Wars Phantom 75048!

LEGO Star Wars Phantom 75048 Box LEGO Summer 2014 Nuremberg Toy FairAm I starting to get revved up for the debut of the all-new Star Wars Rebels cartoon series launching on Disney XD later this year? Yes I am! While I was still feeling a bit melancholy about the loss of Clone Wars up until now, just seeing new Star Wars ships and character debut (in LEGO form) is enough to ignite my Star Wars fanboy spirit and get me amped up for all-new stories, starships and characters!

Star Wars Rebels Phantom LEGO 2014 Set LEGO 74058The LEGO Star Wars The Ghost set I looked at yesterday set off my nostalgia radar for the Millennium Falcon, and this LEGO Rebels Phantom attack shuttle evokes a similar feeling by reminding me of the Original Trilogy Y-Wing design. Plus, it’s in the Rebellion’s iconic colors of orange and white. Apparently the Phantom starship features a detachable cockpit–a pretty crazy feature, even in the Star Wars world. In short–I love it!

LEGO 75048 Phantom Star Wars Rebels Starship Front ViewWhile the box shows the LEGO 75048 Phantom shooting a red missile from the spring-loaded shooter, the actual prototype has a green missile. I would imagine that the production model toy will have a green missile and not red as well, since red is typically associated with evil and the Empire in the Star Wars universe.

Star Wars LEGO Phantom Rebel Starship Close-Up Nuremberg Toy Fair 2014You can see from the close-up that the design on the side of the LEGO Phantom 75048 ship is unfortunately a sticker and not a printed-on piece. Boo–I hate decals.

The set is scheduled to include two LEGO Star Wars minifigures. The first is one of the main protagonists of Star Wars Rebels and the pilot of the Phantom–LEGO Ezra minifigure. You can store Ezra Bridger’s cadet helmet and blaster in the rear cargo compartment of the Phantom.

LEGO Rebels Chopper Astromech Droid at Nuremberg Toy Fair 2014The other minifigure included was obscured at the 2014 Nuremberg Toy Fair, but is known to be R1-10P, the “grumpy” astromech droid called “Chopper”. While we didn’t get to see the LEGO Chopper minifigure at the German Toy Fair, LEGO did show off a giant brick-built R1-10P Chopper figure, so we at least have a pretty good idea of the basic colors and design of the minifigure!

Summer 2014 LEGO Star Wars Phantom 75048 Set Rear View RebelsThe LEGO Star Wars Rebels Phantom 75048 set is part of the LEGO Star Wars Summer 2014 wave of sets. The set is expected to cost $24.99 and include 234 pieces. We should see this set hit stores in July/August 2014 (although it’s also possible that the Rebels sets will be released separately to coincide with the launch of the Rebels cartoon series on Disney XD).

Are you psyched for the first few LEGO Star Wars Rebels sets based off these photos from the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2014, LEGO fans? Or is your anticipation for Rebels–and the toys to coincide with it–running low?
