LEGO Star Wars Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor Polybag Released!

This past week has been a huge one for LEGO Star Wars fans, as we’ve seen a plethora of sales and exclusives, and the humongous new LEGO Sandcrawler released in the past seven days. But not everything that’s occurred in the Star Wars LEGO world this week has been big–in fact, one highly-anticipated set that’s finally arrived is really quite small! Making its way into the mini vehicle polybags for the very first time, the LEGO Star Wars Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor polybag set has now been released in stores!

After strolling around the LEGO Store yesterday and checking out the carnage from the massive amount of consumers who participated in the LEGO Star Wars May the 4th event, I decided to march over to Toys R Us and see if there was anything interesting going on over there.

To my surprise, Toys R Us had actually stocked a set that I had forgotten we had even seen previewed at all–the mini LEGO Star Wars Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor 30244 polybag set! I was wondering when we’d see this starfighter set appear in stores, but now I don’t have to wonder anymore, as it’s here!

30244 LEGO Star Wars Anakin's Jedi Interceptor Polybag BackFor those at home wondering why Anakin’s starfighter isn’t yellow, that’s because this particular 30244 LEGO Star Wars Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor set represents the final ship that Anakin Skywalker flies in the Star Wars prequel movies, which is the green Jedi Interceptor that Anakin takes to Mustafar. The classic, yellow Jedi Starfighter that most fans are more accustomed to seeing was destroyed in the opening scene of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

The LEGO Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor 30244 polybag set contains 45 pieces and was priced at $4.49 at my local Toys R Us store (although I’ve heard many Toys R Us stores are pricing this bagged LEGO set at $3.99).

LEGO Summer 2014 Polybag Display at Toys R Us StoresThere are several LEGO Star Wars 2014 polybags that have yet to make their debuts in stores, but now we can cross the LEGO 30244 Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor set off that list! (LEGO has incorrectly spelled the name of this set as “Intercepter” on the actual bag packaging, but I highly doubt that we’ll see this corrected later in the run.)

This new Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor LEGO set is reportedly a Toys R Us exclusive, which means it shouldn’t turn up at any other retailer (even the official LEGO Stores) later on. As you can see from my photos, however, Toys R Us looks to be getting plenty of this set in stock, so if your Toys R Us is good, you shouldn’t have too many problems tracking this 2014 LEGO Star Wars polybag set at retail.

Will you be picking up this new LEGO Star Wars polybag set, LEGO fans? Or is Anakin’s green Jedi Starfighter ship just too obscure a vehicle for your Star Wars LEGO collection?

  1. I have the Mini Jedi Starfighter set from ’05, so I’m planning on getting this one to complete the set, because I think they’ll look good together.
