Think you’re all caught up on your 2013 LEGO Star Wars Minifigure collection? Well, you might be–or else, one figure may have slipped through the cracks! Though the official publication date of the “LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles” book isn’t set until July 15th, 2013, Amazon has already started selling and shipping the book (at a 33% discount, no less!). Of course, the book isn’t the main attraction here–it’s the exclusive figure only available packaged with it: the LEGO Star Wars Special Forces Commander minifigure!

I remember seeing the preview photos of the “LEGO: The Yoda Chronicles” hardcover book from DK Books–and more importantly, the Special Forces Commander minifigure–but we didn’t really have much information on exactly what the Yoda Chronicles were about at the time, so I sort of pushed that knowledge out of my mind.

Lo and behold, I turn around and the book is upon us! I haven’t received my copy yet, so I can’t vouch for the quality of the book portion of this combo, but it appears to be a sort of compendium of everything there is to know about LEGO Yoda and his adventures in the LEGO Star Wars universe.

Is it crazy that Yoda’s Hut looks a lot more habitable in LEGO form that it did in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi movies?

Of course, the show-stopper star of this set is actually the Imperial Special Forces Commander minifigure. We don’t get a whole lot of unique Stormtrooper minifigures, so this one feels pretty special. His blue markings are reminiscent of those of the 501st Legion. Could the Special Forces Commander somehow by Captain Rex…?

Ordinarily the LEGO Yoda Chronicles Book & Exclusive Special Forces Commander figure cost $18.99 plus tax, but right now Amazon is selling the combo for $12.66 with free shipping and no tax in most states. This works out well for me, because I wasn’t really looking to drop ~$20 mostly for a minifigure, but for $12, I’ll be happy with my Special Forces Commander and willing to give the book a try.
