LEGO news is pretty slow this week (what with the floodgates about to open with news when the 2013 San Diego Comic Con takes place next week), so I figured I would stop and publicly address a question that I’m getting asked by readers via E-Mail almost every single day for the last month or so: “When will the new LEGO Star Wars 2013 Summer Sets be Out?” While the summer/fall 2013 LEGO Star Wars sets have already been released internationally, they’re still MIA in the United States. But take heart, dear American collectors: The Force will be strong with us very, very soon!

LEGO Star Wars is the crown jewel of the licensed LEGO themes family, no questions asked, so it’s not too surprised that LEGO collectors get a little bit impatient when the new wave of LEGO Star Wars sets is running a tad later than expected. While the placards at the 2013 New York Toy Fair said otherwise, many fans were hoping to see the new summer LEGO Stat Wars sets arrive in stores back in May, alongside the LEGO Castle and LEGO Galaxy Squad arrivals. Sadly, an early release like that was just not to be.

The official online LEGO Shop at Home website put up placeholder listings for the LEGO Star Wars Summer/Fall 2013 sets last month, stating that the sets would be released at the online LEGO store on August 1, 2013. That puts a time limit of under three weeks on when the new sets will hit stores, but we expect to see them even sooner than that.

Recently Toys R Us put up listings for some of the new LEGO Star Wars sets on their website as well. Depending on who you ask, Toys R Us either never had any other sets in-stock yet to begin with, or only received a literal handful of sets and sold out instantly. Regardless, we now know Toys R Us must have the new sets in the pipeline, and that means we should see them very soon–perhaps within the next week, if all goes well!

Toys R Us pays good money for the right to sell new release LEGO sets before any other stores in the United States, so that means that we should be seeing the 2013 LEGO Star Wars summer sets arrive at Toys R Us (likely with inflated prices in tow) within the next three weeks.

So hold on, LEGO Star Wars fan! The brand-new LEGO Star Wars Republic Gunship 75021, LEGO Jabba’s Sail Barge 75020, Jedi Defender Class Cruiser 75025 and more will all be arriving within the next 19 days!
