ORIGINAL: We only saw the first photos of the Spring 2013 LEGO Iron Man 3 sets a few weeks ago, but in what has to be considered a major shocker, the sets have already been released in some stores in Illinois, and as a result the sets have surfaced for sale early right now online! You can be the first on your block (or in your state) to own these sets, but it’ll come at a price…

For the most past LEGO is extremely good about keeping sets from leaking out into stores before they’re meant to be released, so I was downright astonished to see that not just one–but all three–of the LEGO Spring 2013 Iron Man 3 sets had managed to make it out onto a store shelf and then purchased and shunted over to ebay! These sets were definitely not originally meant for release this early in the year, so it’s pretty bizarre to see that a store had them in stock at all.

The trio of sets which were purchased at retail in Chicago include all three known LEGO Iron Man 3 sets: Iron Man Malibu Mansion Attack 76007, Iron Man Extremis Sea Port Battle 76006, and Iron Man vs. The Mandarin Ultimate Showdown 76008. All of the scheduled Iron Man 3 minifigures are contained in these sets, including Iron Man Mark LXII, Pepper Potts, Tony Stark, two versions of The Mandarin, War Machine, an Extremis Soldier, and Dr. Aldrich Killian minifigures. (It’s unknown at this time if there will be a LEGO Iron Patriot minifigure released this year–or at all.)

The LEGO Marvel Superheroes Iron Man 3 sets were originally anticipated to be released in mid-March 2013. It’s unknown if these sets being released for sale in some stores was just a mishap or if the sets are going to be allowed to be sold as they arrive at retail stores. We’ll update with more information on these LEGO Iron Man 3 movie sets as it becomes available.
