New York Toy Fair 2015: LEGO Bionicle Summer 2015 Sets!

The revived LEGO Bionicle theme got off to a hot start last month, with all six Toa and their elemental Protector counterparts hitting stores. But now that we have all the heroes, what’s next? But of course–villains! Coming later this year and revealed at New York Toy Fair 2015 today–the LEGO Bionicle Summer 2015 sets!

New York Toy Fair 2015 LEGO Bionicle Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder 70795

While Bionicle came out of the gate blazing this winter with all of the most beloved and recognizable heroic characters, the villains in the first wave of 2015 Bionicles were a little, uh… outmatched. As in “they’re all little Skull Spiders”.

But things are going to get tougher for the Toa this summer, when a new wave of powerful LEGO Bionicle Skull villains are released!

70793 LEGO Skull Basher Bionicle 2015 Summer Set Toy FairWith his enormous inhuman horns, the LEGO Skull Basher looks deadly and fearsome. He reminds me a lot of a Legend of Zelda villain, actually, which is always a good thing. I wouldn’t want to be the Toa who has to mess with the LEGO Bionicle Skull Basher!

70792 LEGO Bionicle Skull Slicer Summer 2015 Set70792 LEGO Bionicle Skull Slicer Summer 2015 Set

Toy Fair 2015 Bionicle Skull Slicer LEGO SetThe most intimidating of the new villains is the LEGO Bionicle Skull Slicer. With four arms, three swords and a… grappling hook (?), the Skull Slicer may be more than the Toa forces can handle!

2015 New York Toy Fair LEGO Bionicle Skull Warrior 70791 Set2015 New York Toy Fair LEGO Bionicle Skull Warrior 70791 Set

70791 Skull Warrior LEGO Bionicle Summer 2015 SetStill neat, but not nearly as cool, is the LEGO Bionicle Skull Warrior set. I like the idea of a Skull Spider archer, but the colors on the Skull Warrior make him seem less dangerous and formidable to me than his comrades.

70794 Skull Scorpio LEGO Bionicle Summer 2015 SetWhile it’s really different from the rest of the Skull sets, I actually think that the LEGO Bionicle Skull Scorpio is really cool. I don’t think every Bionicle villain should be a non-bipedal creature, but occasional diverse creatures like this skull-possessed scorpion keep things fresh.

New York Toy Fair 2015 LEGO Bionicle Mask Maker vs. Skull-GrinderNew York Toy Fair 2015 LEGO Bionicle Mask Maker vs. Skull-Grinder

LEGO Bionicle 2015 Mask Maker Matoran FigureThe Bionicle Mask Maker looks pretty adorable with his small stature making him look seemingly mismatched against the Skull-Grinder. I don’t know if the Mask Maker is a Matoran in the 2015 Bionicle continuity (or if there even is a new continuity at all), but I do so love Matorans!

What do you think of the Summer 2015 LEGO Bionicle sets, Bionicle fans? Are you excited for new enemies for your Toa and Protectors to tangle with, or are these skull-themed villains just not for you?
