Well… this is certainly an unexpected surprise! When word broke that the 21303 Wall-E set had somehow slipped out and started being sold in some European stores, I suspected that we’d be hearing an official announcement rather soon regarding the official release date for the LEGO Ideas Wall-E set.

But, well… while we have learned the release date for the Wall-E 21303 set, it’s not from the source that I was anticipating: the LEGO Wall-E set is now available for order online with free shipping!

Way back in February 2015 (before Jurassic World opened and dinosaurs began roaming the Earth), LEGO hit us up with the surprise announcement that the LEGO Ideas Wall-E set had been approved and would be coming our way in late 2015!

Well, it’s over a third of a year later, but we’ve finally gotten our first official looks at the upcoming Disney-Pixar LEGO Wall-E 21303 set… and I have to say, it looks absolutely amazing!! This just may be the most authentic licensed LEGO set ever made!

“BAZINGA!” No, that’s not me trying to be clever or trendy–that word actually comprises the literal sum totality of my knowledge about the TV sitcom “The Big Bang Theory”. Well… at least it almost does! I also know that fans of the show absolutely love it, and have been rabid for more details and information ever since the LEGO Big Bang Theory set was announced last year. It’s been an excruciatingly long wait, but the third 2014 LEGO Ideas Review results have finally been announced! Unfortunately, those who were hoping for a spectacular new LEGO Ideas set based on a preexisting licensed theme are bound for disappointment, as those sets (including Minas Tirith and the Flying Dutchman) are all immediately disqualified. But there is one set that did make the cut in this review, and it’s definitely a unique one: it’s the LEGO Ideas #13 LEGO Labyrinth Marble Maze set!

LEGO Doctor Who Set Announced! LEGO Ideas #012!

Earlier today I discussed the sole set from the second batch of LEGO Ideas 2014 submissions that has been approved for production as an official LEGO Ideas set in 2015: the LEGO Ideas #011 WALL-E set! But while that was the one and only fan-created set approved from the second batch of 2014 submissions, the LEGO Ideas review board wasn’t quite done with the submissions from the first batch. After a very long review and much consideration, it has been announced that the LEGO Ideas #012 set later this year will be none other than the LEGO Doctor Who and Companions set!

LEGO WALL-E Set Announced! LEGO Ideas Set #11!

LEGO Ideas fans of licensed sets, rejoice! The review board has completed the second round of LEGO Ideas set reviews for the sets that earned 10,000 votes of support in 2014, and the result are in.

While all of the sets from preexisting themes like LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Marvel well rejected once again (and will almost certainly continue to be), one set did pass the review: the LEGO WALL-E set, from the Disney-Pixar classic animated film!

LEGO Birds 21301 LEGO Ideas 2015 Set Released!

While she’s traditionally not a LEGO fan, lately Ideas is striking all of the right chords with my wife! First, they came out with the awesome (and quickly sold-out) LEGO Research Institute 21110 set of female scientist minifigures, which appealed to my wife professionally (what with her being a science teacher and all). And now, the latest fan-designed set plays on my wife’s favorite recreational interest: birding! Coming in January 2015–Birds 21301, the ninth Ideas set!

LEGO Research Institute 21110 Set Back In Stock Online!

UPDATE 12/12/2014: It’s taken a few months, but the LEGO Research Institute set is now back in stock and available for order online!

Earlier this summer, LEGO announced both the name change of LEGO CUUSOO to “LEGO Ideas” and that the next fan-designed concept that would be produced would be that of the female minifigures set designed by Alatariel Elensar.

I really didn’t expect that LEGO would have the finished product ready to be shown off at all until late summer or early fall, but it appears LEGO was farther along with the set than I thought! The LEGO Research Institute 21110 set has now been fully revealed!

LEGO Exo-Suit 21109 LEGO Ideas LIMITED Set Up for Order!

LEGO announced ages ago that the fan-created LEGO Exo-Suit would be coming to the LEGO Ideas set range (though back then, we still old-timers still called it “LEGO CUUSOO”). The rumored release date for the set was August 2014, but once the calendar flipped over to July 2014 without a peep from LEGO, I got a little worried that the project’s release was going to be delayed. Thankfully, it turns out that that’s not the case at all–to celebrate the 4th of July, LEGO officially unveiled their LEGO Exo-Suit 21109 set… in spectacular, animated video form!

UPDATE 8/1/2014: The LEGO Exo-Suit set is now up for order and selling out FAST! There’s only one production run for this set, so make sure to order it ASAP if you want one. Like the LEGO Mars Curiosity Rover, this set will sell out fast!
