World of Warcraft Mega Bloks Goblin Trike 91019 Review 2012

World of Warcraft Mega Bloks Goblin Trike 91019 with Goblin Warrior PitzI love Goblins. Before I ever even glanced at any piece of World of Warcraft multimedia, I knew that I loved Goblins, as I’d heard they were the businessmen (or Ferengi, for Star Trek fans) of the World of Warcraft universe. So when I heard that there would be both two Goblin figures and two Goblin Mega Bloks vehicles in the initial World of Warcraft Mega Bloks assortment, I was pretty pleased. I gave a glowing review to the Goblin Zeppelin Ambush 91014 set I reviewed here a few weeks ago, and today I’ve got its cousin (of a sort), the World of Warcraft Mega Bloks Goblin Trike 9019…

The Right:

The vehicle in this set actually appears to be based on the Goblin Turbo Trike vehicle, rather than the much more subdued regular Goblin Trike. The Goblin Turbo Trike is faster, more colorful, and far more stylish than the mundane Goblin Trike, so I think it was actually a terrific choice for this set. The World of Warcraft Mega Bloks Goblin Trike feature plenty of fun details that really jump out and catch your eye. My very favorite one has to be the black and white striped racing flag posted on the rear of the Trike. Additionally, I love that the axles of the wheels on the Goblin Trike are painted yellow instead of being left in the molded black, the accuracy of making the seat and steering wheel red, and the “wooden” paint wash on the brown pieces of the bicycle that really make them look realistic.

91019 Goblin Trike Mega Bloks World of Warcraft Back 2012Being a sort of modified motorcycle, the Horde Goblin Trike Mega Bloks set doesn’t have a ton of “action” features. As you might expect, the wheels all spin, so you can roll it across any hard surface to take part in a race or to run down unfortunate gnomes. Also, the seat has an amusing “wobbling” feature in that when the bike is moving, the seat shakes back and forth uncontrolled. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s a fun diversion that definitely adds a little something extra to the set.

World of Warcraft Mega Bloks Goblin Trike Runs Over Ewok LEGO FiguresThere’s not a whole lot to this set, as it’s only 65 pieces. The World of Warcraft Mega Bloks Goblin Trike can be built in under 10 minutes, at which point it’s ready to roll (literally). It’s a quick and simple build, although not nearly as much so as the actual beast mounts like the Swift Wyvern and Swift Gryphon I previously reviewed. Even the most novice Mega Bloks builder should have little to no difficulty putting this set together and enjoying it.

Pitz Goblin Warrior Mega Bloks World of Warcraft Figure 91019 Goblin Trike 2012The rider included with the Goblin Trike 91019 is Pitz, the Goblin Warrior Mega Bloks figure. Although they’re both Goblins, Pitz feels quite a bit more formidably than Krazzle, the Goblin Rogue figure included with the Goblin Zeppelin Ambush. It can be challenging to make a short little goblin toy look menacing, but Goblin Warrior Pitz looks like he means business and has some real credibility with his navy and gold armor with spikes on the shoulders. Wielding a huge Warhammer–which is bigger than his own head–Pitz looks ready to do some serious bashing.

Mega Bloks Warcraft Goblin Warrior Pitz vs. Human Paladin ColtonThe Wrong:

I flat out hate the bright red plastic that Pitz’s Warhammer has been molded in. I went online and ran a search through the weapons available in World of Warcraft trying to find out what the inspiration for this hammer was, but I couldn’t find any red hammers listed anywhere. Having a bright, primary red battle hammer accessory looks really cheap and cheesy. The yellow paint detailing on the hammer is nicely-done, but the combination of bright red and yellow looks very “toy”-ish and a lot less dangerous and menacing than most of the other World of Warcraft Mega Bloks weapons that we’ve seen so far.

Pitz Goblin Warrior Back Mega Bloks World of Warcraft Figure 91019 Goblin Trike 2012Also, the Goblin Trike is missing perhaps the “coolest” detail of the in-game Goblin Turbo Trike: the flames on the engine. If that had been included (even in the form of stickers), I think the Mega Bloks Goblin Trike would have been pretty nearly perfect.

Warcraft Horde Goblin Trike vs. Star Wars Speeder Bike and Biker Scout“Where Can I Buy It?!”

The Horde Goblin Trike is in the first assortment of World of Warcraft Mega Bloks sets shipping to retailers right now. I purchased mine from BAToys and got it a few weeks earlier than people buying from local stores, which is always a little thrill for me.

Overall: While not the most exciting World of Warcraft Mega Bloks set from an action perspective, the Goblin Trike 91019 is a well-done set overall. I think the bright red plastic for Pitz’s warhammer is a garish, terrible color choice that takes away from the figure and the set, but that’s really the only major flaw with this build. I’d have liked slightly more detailing on the pieces of the Goblin Trike, but even without, it’s still one of the most colorful and aesthetically-pleasing vehicles in the first World of Warcraft Mega Bloks assortment. The Mega Bloks World of Warcraft Goblin Trike 91019 is a well-designed set with a very reputable-looking Goblin Warrior figure, and is worthy of a strong recommendation.
