Now that the long-awaited 2013 LEGO Star Wars summer sets finally arrived in the United States last week, LEGO collectors have been dying to know what’s next from LEGO and when we can expect to learn more about the LEGO 2014 sets lineup! Never a company to leave fans unsatisfied, LEGO decided to give us our first 2014 LEGO sets glimpses today, including a minifigure fans have requested for years now! Coming in January 2014, it’s the 2014 LEGO Batman The Riddler Chase set… with LEGO The Flash minifigure!

I love–love–the Riddler. I know most people’s favorite Batman villain is The Joker, but they can keep him–Edward Nigma is the villain for me! So even though The Riddler minifigure appeared relatively recently in the 2011 LEGO The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape 6857set, I don’t mind a fresh new Riddler minifigure coming out in 2014! That said, this is one crazy set. The Riddler loves a good riddle, but I had no idea he loved a good… drag racer?!

I have absolutely no clue what the rationale is for sticking the LEGO Riddler into a race car, but whatever–because the racing theme is what paves the road (so to speak) for the set’s real star–the first ever LEGO Flash minifigure! LEGO collectors have been demanding more DC LEGO Superheroes icons like The Flash since the day the LEGO Batman theme was announced, and that demand increased ten-fold once The Flash was featured in the “LEGO Batman 2” video game a few years back. Now, at long last, the LEGO The Flash minifigure will be racing into collectors’ homes in 2014!

Along with the LEGO Riddler and The Flash minifigures, the 2014 LEGO Superheroes Batman The Riddler Chase set will also feature a Batman minifigure with a truly styling race-car. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen Batman drive around in a race car of this sort in any Batman comic book, video game, movie or cartoon, but it sure is one sleek, wicked-cool looking car!

The LEGO Batman Riddler Chase set, including the LEGO Flash Minifigure, is scheduled to be released in stores in January 2014. The Riddler Chase LEGO set will contain 304 pieces at a price of $29.99. The set includes my favorite DC Comics villain and the minifigure of the Flash I’ve waited my whole life for, so you better believe I’ll pick it up and post a full review and photo gallery as soon as it’s available in stores.
