LEGO Ninjago 2014 Sets List & Promotional Artwork Revealed!

LEGO Ninjago fans got an extra-special treat on the back cover of the new Australian LEGO Club Magazine–new promotional artwork for the LEGO Ninjago 2014 sets! Last week, images of the three of the seven rumored 2014 Ninjago LEGO sets leaked to the Internet. Now, this promotional artwork confirms two more of the remaining four sets! Check out our first glimpse at the LEGO Ninjago Nindroid Mech Dragon and another of the LEGO Winter 2014 Ninjago sets…

LEGO Ninjago 2014 Promotional Poster ArtworkAs we inch closer to the holidays, we learn more and more about the upcoming LEGO Ninjago resurgence for next year! The Ninjago cartoon is rumored to be returning in winter 2013/2014 (just a few months away), and now we’ve seen five of the seven Ninjago Winter 2014 LEGO sets. The seven sets we know of planned for next year are:

LEGO Ninjago 70720 – Hover Hunter
LEGO Ninjago 70721 – Kai Fighter
LEGO Ninjago 70722 – OverBorg Attack
LEGO Ninjago 70723 – Thunder Raider
LEGO Ninjago 70724 – Ninja Copter
LEGO Ninjago 70725 – Nindroid MechDragon
LEGO Ninjago 70726 – Destructoid

LEGO 2014 Ninjago Kai Fighter Box Red NinjaWe’ve previously seen photos of the Kai Fighter, Overborg Attack and Thunder Raider sets, and you can see the details on all of those sets by clicking on their names in the list above. You can spot two more of the sets in the new image.

The most obvious new addition seen in the promotional artwork for next year’s Ninjago line is the huge purple dragon climbing up a building, while clutching Lloyd Garmadon (the green ninja). That would be the LEGO Nindroid Mech Dragon 70725, and it is a thoroughly terrifying (and awesome) new addition to the line. Easily my favorite and most-wanted set of the LEGO Ninjago 2014 theme.

To the right of the LEGO 70725 MechDragon, you can see another flying vehicle. This vehicle appears to be a Nindroid vehicle, so it’s either the Hover Hunter 70720 or the Destructoid 70726. I’m expecting the latter to be a very large and expensive set, so I’m leaning more toward the Ninjago Hover Hunter, which sounds like it would be a small-medium cyborg vehicle.

LEGO Ninjago Rebooted 2014 Teaser ArtworkAlong with debuting two of the new sets for next year, this artwork also confirms beyond any doubt that Zane (the white ninja) will be returning for the new season of Ninjago, still as a good guy (albeit now with a cybernetic eye in place of his original–yowch!). This isn’t a major shocker, since we already saw Zane with his cyborg eye in the teaser artwork revealed close to a year ago, but it is nice to get official confirmation of his return (and new ocular status).

The theme for the new season of 2014 LEGO Ninjago sets is “Ninjago Rebooted”, referring to the technological/robot/cybernetic elements of the new story, weapons and enemies. I know a lot of fans are feeling that the cyborg angle is a little bit over-the-top, but really–is it any crazier than “Ninjas vs. Snake Men”? I love the look of the Ninjago Winter 2014 sets thus far, and definitely plan on picking them up when they officially arrive in stores in January 2014.

I’ll post more information on the 2014 Ninjago sets as more details become available, and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have LEGO news, updates and photos sent straight to your Facebook Newsfeed.

  1. You do know that Zane is a Nindroid, right? During the battle with the Great Devourer, his fake skin got ripped off.

  2. I’d actually say that the vehicle to the right of the MechDragon is probably a Ninja vehicle, not a Nindroid one, considering that Kai is leaping from it to the MechDragon and its blades are gold rather than silver. Also, I doubt it’s the Hover Hunter because, based on the scale of some of the recognizable pieces used to build it, it appears to be as large as or larger than Kai’s vehicle.

And as Ryo suggested, Zane has always had that cybernetic eye, because he is a Nindroid. The only change is that he seems to have taken some battle damage, tearing away the artificial skin that covers its circuitry. His cybernetic eye is likewise visible in the episode “Day of the Great Devourer” which aired over a year ago.
