LEGO Star Wars 2014 Coruscant Police Gunship Revealed & Photos!

I am unashamed to admit that I cried when Ahsoka Tano left the Jedi order at the end of the Clone Wars cartoon series. As you might imagine, I am a pretty big Star Wars Clone Wars fan. So while some LEGO Star Wars collectors were a little giddy that Clone Wars was cancelled, I was still holding out hope that we’d get a few more LEGO Clone Wars sets. And to my delight, one of the final LEGO Star Wars 2014 sets to be revealed is pure Clone Wars–it’s the 2014 LEGO Star Wars Coruscant Police Gunship 75046!

2014 LEGO Star Wars Coruscant Police Gunshop 75046 Set BoxI love Clone Wars more than the next guy (heck, more than just about any guy), but even I was a little bewildered when the Coruscant Police Gunship showed up on the list of rumored LEGO Star Wars 2014 sets during the summer. That said, now that I’ve had a chance to rewatch the last few episodes of the Clone Wars cartoon and have the idea of a LEGO Star Wars Police Gunship settle in my head a bit, I’m pretty enamored with the fact that we’re getting a Clone Wars LEGO Star Wars set taken directly from the final story arc of Clone Wars.

For those who didn’t watch Clone Wars, here’s the premise for this set: Basically, the Jedi utilize Coruscant Police Gunships to chase after Anakin Skywalker’s padawan Ahsoka Tano, who is believed to have gone rogue and turned into a treacherous murderess (as ridiculous as that sounds). This is the only on-screen appearance of the Coruscant Police Gunships in the Star Wars universe.

The 75046 LEGO Coruscant Police Gunship set includes four minifigures: two LEGO Shocktrooper minifigures, a grown-up LEGO Ahsoka Tano minifigure, and (of course) a LEGO Anakin Skywalker minifigure.

How fitting is it that what’s likely to be the last-ever LEGO Star Wars Clone Wars set includes minifigures of Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker in their attires from the end of the series? I know some fans will groan that no new characters are included with LEGO 75046, but in this case the Anakin and Ahsoka minifigure choices could not be any more appropriate.

LEGO Star Wars Coruscant Police Gunship 75046 Winter 2014 SetThe Coruscant Police Gunship LEGO Star Wars vehicle itself looks a little weird, but it’s actually a close enough match to what was seen in the cartoon for me to easily identify it. This particular vehicle obviously isn’t going to be a must-buy for everyone, which is why the set is supposedly going to be a 2014 LEGO Star Wars exclusive to an as-yet undisclosed store. I’ll post an update when I hear where this set will be showing up in January 2014.

What do you think of the 2014 LEGO Star Wars Coruscant Police Gunship 75046, LEGO Star Wars collectors? Is this particular vehicle a mite too obscure for your tastes, or are you happy to take a trip down the Clone Wars fast lane one more time?
