LEGO Star Wars Force Awakens Stormtrooper Set Photo!

We’ve known everything from the set numbers to the release date (September 4th, 2015) to the prices for the LEGO Star Wars Episode VII sets for ages, and even the names for the sets leaked out last week. There was really only one mystery left: when the sets would finally be revealed to the public. And the solution to that question now has an unsurprising answer: San Diego Comic-Con 2015 next month! But before we see the rest of the LEGO Star Wars Force Awakens sets at SDCC 2015, the first LEGO 2016 set has now been revealed: the LEGO First Order Stormtrooper figure!

SDCC 2015 Exclusive LEGO First Order Stormtrooper Figure

At Star Wars Celebration VII in April, we got our first official look at the initial wave of brick-built LEGO Star Wars figure sets. All of those characters were drawn from the first six Star Wars movies, but we now have confirmation (as if we really needed it) that that line will be extending to include characters from the new Star Wars movies!

At San Diego Comic-Con 2015, the LEGO Episode VII Stormtrooper set (pictured above) will be on display, along with the rest of this first series of brick-built Episode VII figures. I think this 9″ Stormtrooper was a great choice to show off first, as the helmeted characters in the style look far better than the helmetless characters (like poor, hideous Obi-Wan Kenobi). In addition, a life-size First Order Stormtrooper made of traditional bricks (not Bionicle pieces) will also be on display at SDCC 2015.

It’s worth noting that, while this LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens Stormtrooper will be on display at the 2015 SDCC, the set will not be available for purchasing at the event. In fact, the official on-sale date for this set won’t be until January 1st, 2016. I’m a bit shocked that TLG is planning to spotlight a 2016 set at SDCC that won’t be available until after the holiday and the launch of The Force Awakens movie, but it is what it is.

We don’t know the official price-point for this LEGO Force Awakens Stormtrooper brick-built figure yet, but based on the pricing for the first wave of these “Constraction” figures, I think we can reasonably assume that he’ll be priced at or around $19.99. That’s not the best price for a set containing 81 pieces, but Bionicle-style figures never do well on my “price-per-piece” value-meter.

What do you think of the first LEGO Star Wars 2016 set to be revealed, Star Wars fans? Will you be adding the LEGO Star Wars First Order Stormtrooper set to your collection this winter, or are you turned off by the character or this set’s figural design?
