The LEGO Movie Metalbeard’s Duel 70807 Winter 2014 Set Revealed!

With 2014 fast-approaching and the arrival of the first-ever feature-length LEGO movie becoming more and more imminent, LEGO is divulging information on their The LEGO Movie sets fast and furiously! LEGO is truly running the gamut of creativity and diversity with their Winter 2014 LEGO Movie sets, and that apparently expands to include LEGO mechs! Coming in January 2014–The LEGO Movie Metalbeard’s Duel 70807!
70807 LEGO Movie Metalbeards Duel SetWhen LEGO announced that they were bringing out a LEGO Movie in 2014, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from the movie or the inevitable sets that would accompany it. I know what I definitely wasn’t expecting, though–and that’s a hybrid psycho pirate/giant robot mech!

We’ve had some weird LEGO characters released over the years, but I think LEGO Metalbeard might be the single most bizarre LEGO figure ever! Apparently (beware the following LEGO Movie spoilers), Lord Business destroyed Metalbeard’s human body in a past battle, but Metalbeard has build himself a new giant robot body from the debris of old ships. No, really–that’s the real basis for this set. Crazy, right?! Ha.

The Metalbeard LEGO robot features firing cannons on Metalbeard’s left arm, a LEGO shark (yes, a shark) on his right arm, and even a parrot perched upon his shoulder! Lord Business’ LEGO Micro Manager robot isn’t going to stand a chance against the power of Metalbeard’s robot body!

LEGO 70807 will include three minifigures: a LEGO Robo Skeleton minifigure, a LEGO Robo SWAT minifigure, and a LEGO Frank the Foreman minifigure. The Robo Skeleton and Robo SWAT minifigures are cool enough, but I think I’m most excited about the LEGO Frank the Foreman minifigure. Along with the LEGO Minifigures Series 12 blind bags and the other The LEGO Movie sets, it looks like we’ll be able to put together a nice little squad of construction works/builder minifigures from the movie!

The LEGO Movie Metal Beard’s Duel 70807 set should be released by January 2014, but I’d expect that we’ll actually see the set turn up for sale online before that date. I’ll post an update as more LEGO Movie sets information comes out, and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have LEGO news, updates and photos sent straight to your Facebook Newsfeed!

What do you think about this newly-revealed Metalbeard’s Duel LEGO Movie 70807 set, LEGO collectors?
