January 2016 is going to be a good month for Star Wars fans, as in the wake of “The Force Awakens”, a whopping twenty-four LEGO Star Wars sets are due for release! The set I expect to be most popular with older collectors isn’t from Episode VII (or any new media), however, and certainly isn’t the biggest set being released. It’s one of just two sets from the Original Trilogy, and it’s going to warm (or freeze) a lot hearts: the 2016 LEGO Star Wars Carbon-Freezing Chamber 75137!

Among the many compelling mysteries fans are dying to have answered in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie next month is the true identity and background of the mysterious, Sith-like Kylo Ren. Following the release of the full Episode VII trailer and its absence of a certain Jedi Master, crazy rumors started swirling about Kylo Ren potentially being Luke Skywalker. Photos from the set seemed to disprove those allegations, but now we can officially confirm it via the merch: the 2016 LEGO Star Wars Battle of Takodana 75139 set gives us the first-ever unmasked Kylo Ren figure–and he’s definitely not Luke Skywalker!

When it rains, it pours! And now we can add Star Wars to the list of themes having Winter 2016 LEGO sets photos pouring this week. The Star Wars Microfighters were a sub-line that I honestly thought was going to bomb in stores, but it turned out that these low-priced, chibi-fied Star Wars vehicles were a major hit with kids and many collectors. And now, they’re back for another round: the LEGO Star Wars 2016 Microfighters sets have now been revealed–along with the winter’s only regular-sized Rebels set!
